Ship to ship Docking? When?

I keep checking the Elite Dangerous's website to keep on eye out for what's new to come. For the longest time now, I keep seeing in coming soon Dock with friendly ships. I thought I would bring this up and see if anyone knows or has information about?

What would be the purpose of docking with other CMDRs? Easier cargo transfer?

I think it's less about docking and more about launching. Since multi-crew is coming first, it'll probably be an extension of that; instead of manning a gun or something, you jump in a Condor or other small fighter (Sidewinder, Imperial Fighter, Condor are the only ones small enough that come to mind) and fly out into the fray, then come back and dock if you get too damaged to either get repaired or to jump back in the multi-crew seat.

Condor and Imperial Fighter both don't carry FSDs, so any role in the main game would have to be as a supporting craft for one of the bigger ships, like the Anaconda, Corvette, or Cutter.

Ah, I was thinking like Python to Python for like cargo transfer. I believe they've said only the Condor and Imp Fighter will be able to launch from parent ships come 2.2.

They also said, "Sidewinder size ships" in one of those trailers.

A sidewinder, is a very nice ship to do various missions in if upgraded.. Hopes are real.
