Proposal for ship transfer

In order for ship transfer to be an option you have to have at least one hired crew member.

You designate a member of the crew to transfer your ship from point A to point B.

You have to pay the cost for your crew member to be transported to the place where your ship is currently stationed. This cost should be perhaps similar to a rebuy, so the bigger and more expensive the ship the more it will cost.

The crew member is then unavailable to you until they have transported the ship to the desired location and you have returned there to pick them up.

There should also be a chance that your ship is attacked during transit, this could be linked to the crew member’s skill levels and the route taken.

The better rating the crew member has, the less likely it is that your ship is attacked in the transfer process, and the better they may be able to defend or evade the attack. Then there is less chance your ship is damaged or destroyed during the attack, there should be a risk involved.

With regards to the route taken this should also be linked to if you are a member of any faction, and are traversing through another faction’s exploited or controlled space. e.g. you are pledged to Li Long-Rui and the route is through 3 systems controlled by Edmund Mahon, your chance of being attacked is increased by 3%, or something like this.

You should have the option to be able to set the route yourself, or let the crew member choose the route taken.

But there should always be at least a percentage chance the ship is attacked, same as you might be attacked yourself whilst travelling from A to B.

Transfer time should take the approximate time it would take for you to get to where the ship is currently stationed, by use of a transport ship (orca, Beluga etc), and then pilot the craft to the desired destination, taking into account jump range and any refuel stops required either at a station or using a fuel scoop.

You could even have it so that those crew members that are not very experienced, run out of fuel or manage to fight off an attack but are unable to proceed and you have to run a rescue mission to recover your ship, just to add to the realism and keep it lore friendly.

I don’t know if the game mechanics will allow for these ideas to be implemented or if it is even possible, but I feel that if they could be done this would appease most if not all players.
