A ship ferry service would be nice. It could be used to either consolidate your ships at a single port, or as a method for an under equipped ship to make a long jump it couldn't manage itself.
If you want a scenario, think of the guild vessel used in Dune to transport all the ships of house Atreides to Arrakis. A fee based on tonnage would have to be paid, of course. It would preserve the realism required of the game, and simplify fleet logistics.
