The other idea I had the other day can be locked (Ship Variants ), as I've come up with a more normal idea.

During a discussion on the FDL, and it's silly jump range, I came up with some ideas to rebalance it for its bounty hunter role, but too many people like the FDL as is, understandably.
So, instead of messing with that ships formula, create a new variant of it, using all the same assets.
For now, let's just call the FDL the FDL R-Type. The 'R' stands for range.
The FDL R-Type is designed to be much better as pursuing targets longer distances, but still lacks the fuel capacity to keep up the chase.
Most of the ship stays the same, so I'll just list the changes to this variant over the original.
The FDL R-Type's base price is similar to the original. The same model is used, but if possible, it would be nice to have a different standard paintjob, but still use all the original FDLs store paint.
Dreaming here, but it would also be nice to get a new single seater central position cockpit. But not essential. (Multicrew on the FDL is a bit pointless anyway).
Other variations of ships could include things like a,
Military Class Python.
All of the core modules, and hardpoints remain the same.
Mass in increased, but it's pitch rate is increased to compensate. Base shields and armour are increased. Heat Efficiency is Reduced Slightly. +1 to the mass lock factor.
1xClass 6 internal is made in to a Military Slot
1xClass 6 internal is removed.
1xClass 5 internal is made in to a Military Slot.
If possible, the ship is made SLF capable, but only in the maximum size of class 5 (1xSLF).
This would be a pretty cool ship to fly. Shorter range than the original Python and can carry far less cargo, but has more defences, and is SLF capable.
Would cost quite a bit more than the standard Python, and could be locked behind a Combat Rank?
Like the FDL R-Type, it gets its own special paintjob, but can use the standard pool of python paint.
There's quite a few variations on ships I can think of, but it takes too long to type them all out. Lol

- Power plant is reduced from Class 6, down to Class 5.
- Frame Shift Drive is increased from Class 4 to Class 5.
- Fuel tank is increased from C3(8t) to C4(16t), this is required due to the 5As 5t fuel use.
- The ships base mass is increased by 30t, to keep the range in a more normal level, and slightly effect the speed and handling.
- The class 4 huge hardpoint is reduced to a class 3.
- 1x Class 4 internal slot is made in to a Military Slot.
