Ship Voice Cutting Out Entirely in Thargoid Engagements

As the title says. It seems to be a problem with the distortion around frame shift anomalies. The distortion gets so bad I can no longer hear my ship voice, which is very, very problematic as we rely on it for information like: "TEMPERATURE CRITICAL," or "HEAT SINK DEPLOYED," and c.

What gives? This can't be a feature because the putatively "immersive" distortion completely shuts down my cockpit voice assistant. No other feature of my ship is impacted in this way, but the audio. Is there a way to disable this and restore normal functionality to my audio alerts? I can't find a setting.

I noted that as well. Seems the longer you stay in a combat zone of any kind, eventually the voice gets tired of saying the same old stuff and just assumes you notice the big letters in the upper right hand side of the screen that says "INCOMING MISSLE" or "CAUSTIC SUBSTANCE ON HULL."

Yeah, first the voice gets messed up which seems to be a feature. Yet at some point it just gets silent which seems to be a bug. Should end up on the issue tracker.

Really irritating on the old shutdown field, there is so much going on I don't always notice the text and bong I'm drifting into the side of a planet.

After the first frame shift anomaly, I get the light audio garbling. Which is Ok. But then as mentioned above, the distortion is so bad that eventually there is zero CVA audio at all.

At first I thought it was related to Shutdown Fields. I have noticed that after getting hit by a Shutdown Field, there's a chance my guns or heat sinks no longer work. (This has been rare on my Chieftan, more common on my Krait & T10.) The heat sinks will say "Low Power" on the HUD, but the power plant is still 90+ health. A few times I'd noticed that after getting hit by a Shutdown Field, my weapons were actually toggled OFF in the Modules screen. I had to turn them back on, one by one, and all was well.

Or land and repair would fix it.

That's when I realized that the missing Voice is likely something different. My landing to repair doesn't bring the missing/muted Voice Assistant back to normal operation.

If your heatsinks show "low power" it means your system capacitor is empty. Put pips in SYS.
Any weapons that are currently being repaired when you get shutdown will end up in the "off" state when the ship reboots.

Ah... So when this "off" state has been happening, I wonder if an AI launched repair limpet was attached and I didn't hear any Voice Assistant alert about it? Could be.

And thanks for the details regarding the heat sinks. Empty SYS after a Shutdown Field makes sense, thinking about my setup.

I meant specifically repairing the module with an AFMU (repair limpets only fix your hull and canopy cracks). If you're not doing that I don't know how they're ending up turned off.
