I try to land on my pad, everything is in order, landing gear down and smack in the center of target but it wont dock!?!?!? So for the time being I shall listen to Bob Marley and wait for a reply....

I just had that, but I was facing the other way. as the pad was near entrance.
I had to face away from entrance to complete docking.
not sure if yours was similar situation?

Yes, come to think of it that was happening. Good un. A slight bug but livable. Bloody quick reply by the way.
It worked alright the second time I tried. Still listening to Bob.

Check which way your ship is pointing on the HUD landing aid - if it is pointing down the screen then the pad has probably not been reset since the last launch (this may be a bug - don't know how long it is meant to take) and you need to turn through 180° then re-attempt the landing.
I had this issue a couple times just leave and ask again that's assuming that it wont deny you or time out. Or you could try the auto dock which every one has to try once be ready to get sick as your ship dances to music and takes forever to dock, its pretty funny the first time. I love manual docking but that was worth the cost to experience it
no worries it is actually something you buy and then when you get docking clearance you stop and it takes over
