Newcomer / Intro Ship Won't Launch

Hi all, new player here. After selecting Open Mode, and sitting inside the ship, whenever I select "Launch" a keybinding checklist pops up that I can't cancel, and the ship doesn't launch. I've tried selecting "Return To Surface" before trying to launch again, but it won't let me go. When I quit the game to try again, it tells me I'm in Solo mode, even though I chose Open Play.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? Thanks!

It's a preflight check thingy.

Work down the list - so joystick forwards, back, up down etc. When you have done them all you're away.

You can turn off the pre-flight check on the last tab of the right panel.

You can also switch it off in your right hand console. I'm not sure if you have to go through it at least once first though.

If you go into the right side console, right most tab (Functions) there is an option called Start Checklist (roughly translated from German). Turn that off and you skip the list.
