Ships all over the place

Soon I will own loads of ships.
They will more than likely be scattered about a bit. I might want to get them all to a central location.

How's about I

a: Hire an NPC to fly my ship from where it is to where I want it.

or

b: Buy/hire a cheap disposable shuttle like thingy (think spacey Boris Bikes) to fly to where I have a ship waiting so I can sell/dispose of it and get in my ship.

or

c: Just buy stock Sideys and leave them dotted about the galaxy... Meh, messy.

or

d: Get told about that in game feature to which I am blissfully unaware of that you are just about to tell me about.

Ta.

Maybe you could hire a ride with another player to get you where you wanted to go ? a taxi type service ?

Or hire a ship like a rental car which then returns to renter remotely after the hirer is finished ? :)

do C... buy the sidewinder and fly to where your ship is at , then sell the sidewinder. Saves the mess and gets you the money back. Then fly your ship to it's new location.

I think there was something in the DDF that said you could pay to have your ship transported to your current location for a price and after waiting for the transport to travel. Not sure if that is still happening, but I would love to have it. I don't like having my assets spread about. Depending on the price, I'll be taking my entire hangar with me wherever I go (when not exploring).

This has got to be implemented IMHO. I've seen a video of David Braben where he specifically mentions being able to jump in a different ship (loadout) in order to complete certain missions. This will be totally impractical until the ship transport is implemented.

This. This. This.

Strip it out to maximise the jump range if you need to, stick on a fuel scoop and go.

... Read the design discussion archive and the thread relating to multiple ship ownership where the devs outline their plans to expand the system. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6753

For future reference many of the threads asking questions like this were already answered earlier in development, there are reams of threads over in that archive, each started by the devs to explain and discuss their plans for the game and its mechanics. While the threads are older, these are the mechanics the devs want to include and the way in which they would like to implement them, while ideas change, new ones are formed and older ones dropped, it is a decent place to get an idea of where Frontier see their game going long term.

It's fine to talk about what the DDF has proposed, but the fact is - we need to deal with what the game offers right now.

The Sidewinder is the best way to go for a personal ship to fly yourself to your other places.
