Ships at central hangar strategy?

So how are people deciding where to park their ships? A central "homeworld" or just anywhere willy nilly?

If central homeworld - I was thinking either at a really good high tech world so I could not only swap ships but modify if I needed to right there. And second layer of consideration would be a high tech world situated kind of in center of populated map space as I am not pledged and don't plan to - so center would let me get to various faction grinding or cargo routes faster.

The Shinrarta Dezhra (Founders World) stellar system (Jameson Memorial space port) sells all 20 spaceships and (I suspect) all equipment at a 10% discount. I suspect that the player needs a permit to be able to jump to Shinrarta Dezhra. All founders of this game received this permit at start of play. Shinrarta Dezhra is 64.43 light years from Sol.

I will probably be using Shinrarta Dezhra as my main base for storing all of my future ships (I currently only have a Vulture) because I can buy any ship there and then buy any equipment (except for the PowerPlay faction-specific item rewards) for my ships all at the same place (all at a 10% discount). Very convenient. PowerPlay doesn't interest me.

I started playing this game a few days after this game was released. I started the game in a Cobra Mk III. It took me about 3 weeks of solid playing doing nothing but bounty hunting pirates to be able to buy and then fit a Viper with A-rated equipment. Trading or mining doesn't interest me at all. Back then, the most reward that I could get for taking on missions from the bulletin board to kill a computer-controlled Elite Anaconda was approximately 170,000 credits.

I can confirm that it is MUCH easier to earn credits at a much higher rate (credits/hour) now than it was back at the time that this game was released. I've seen missions on the bulletin board with rewards as ridiculously high as approximately 500,000 to 1 million credits (and I was only rated Expert in Combat at the time, so I couldn't accept those missions). Some players have recently reported seeing bulletin board missions with rewards much higher than that! You new players don't know how good you have it earning credits now compared to when players played this game back when this game was released.

I hope that this helps.

Jameson Memorial space port currently sells the following spaceships:

Adder
Anaconda
Asp
Cobra Mk III
Diamondback Explorer
Diamondback Scout
Eagle
Federal Dropship
Fer-de-Lance
Hauler
Imperial Clipper
Imperial Courier
Orca
Python
Sidewinder
Type-6 Transporter
Type-7 Transporter
Type-9 Heavy
Viper
Vulture

Personally I've gone for the High Tech homeworld, independent from all factions and currently outside any PP faction space (not sure if that will last though). It has a nice system one jump away with 5 decent RES sites, so I keep my vulture parked there. I am allied with all 5 minor factions, so I get lots of decent paying missions, and I've worked hard at getting to allied with all the factions in the 4 systems close by that I trade/smuggle with.

it's close enough that I can go do Fed faction easily enough, although I am a fair way from Imperial or Alliance space.

Thanks for the rec!

Does anyone know with current game meta, since Pilot's Federation was removed from contacts, if we can still get the permit for this world?

I just googled it but all the old posts say is you get a mission from the Pilots Federation after you hit Elite rank in something. But from what I understand, the Pilots Federation is no longer listed as faction in the contacts pane?

I have a similar desire for a ship hauler class I own 5ship i n fed space but I plan on moving to empire space when they fix the bugs out there and it takes about a day real time to get there so moving all myships would be hell I've considered selling and debuting as an option as the sell and buy back cost are not to bad

One ship is all you need, try them out settle on your current favourite and enjoy. Don't tie yourslef down with a station (or stations) full of ships. Refit to suit your current whim, there's no depreciation on modules.

This week I have a clipper last week I had a DBS, both are great.

I personally like the idea of keeping your low jump range ships close to where you use them as possible, like my full combat vulture, with it's D rated FSD near my favorite RES. It takes forever to go anywhere with an 11ly jump range.

The rest of my ships I keep in a central location and just use a stripped out Hauler to go back and forth. The Hauler is a great taxi as you can get a 30+ year jump range for under 230k. If you want to get a new ship someplace strip it, then sell the frame for next to no money loss.

I keep all my old ships also , they make handy bookmarks on the map for areas ive got to know

i used to have my 6 ships (most of them small and single role) parked in one station in my "homeground" - a group of systems i take care off to free them from feds and pirates. besides one - my explorer - which is parked at the edge of the bubble. my homeground was very often my playground, too. if i wanted to do something somewhere else what i couldn't do in my asp, i flew there and bought a small ship dedicated to the job. now i have sold my fleet beside that explorer, and have a travelling home since a week. don't know whether i will settle down again soon.
