Shock Cannon - Increase Ammo Reserves

Shock cannons are described as shooting "energy projectiles"
Not bullets.

So that should be something like "auto synthesizer"
i appreciate, but Shock Cannons have 'Ammo' despite that, so all bets are off on what makes sense 🙃
And for fire rate...
The gun fires as fast as you pull.
up to a limit of 10/s, so -25% Fire Rate would mean the limit is decreased to 7.5/s. come to think of it, -25% is probably not enough of a reduction. probably needs to be more like -40%.
 
regardless of what they're made of its still an "energy projectile"
like how plasma cannons fire an energy projectile. a HIGH energy projectile. That thing uses ammo and a clip.
But plasmas and railguns can get the plasma slug secodary which allows for synthesizing ammo from ship fuel.

Doesn't matter if you superheat tungsten or platinum, if it hits a trillion degrees its a blob of plasma.
 
I just came here to bump this thread to get more attention for shock cannons. These are such beautiful weapons and fine as they are ... with the exception of having way too low of an ammo count. 300% of its current ammo cap would be a good start. Or make them deal absolute damage only. In any case, increase their total damage.

A standard C3 fixed multicannon has a total damage output of 3.925 * 2200 = 8635 dmg
An overcharged C3 fixed multicannon has a total damage output of 6.672 * 2200 = 14678.4
A C3 fixed shock cannon has a total damage output of 18.14 * 256 = 4643.84 dmg

So an overcharged C3 fixed multicannon has a 14678.4 / 4643.84 = 3.16 times higher total damage output than a C3 fixed shock cannon. Hence I suggest a 3 times increase in ammo. Alternatively, Finally allow us to engineer them. This way they could be balanced too.

But for the love of shock cannons do something.

Up the ammo considerably, and also make the synth cost far, far less.
