Shop badge for elite status - nice idea or not?

So, after playing somewhat casually (about 4 weeks+ in game) and mainly doing only combat, I've finally reached Elite.

Made think though - would be nice if there was a shop item like the old elite badges that we could only buy if we reach Elite status.

Nice idea or not?

I personally miss stuff like this from the 80's

Got an Elite Dangerous one too:

The Orange one was from visiting a Frontier event in 2018 at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. There was a massive bowl of them at the entrance, all sorts of colours.

There's a thread on this forum somewhere that has pics of other peoples badges.
