Shops suddenly hemorrhaging money for no reason

I've run into a bit of a problem where no matter where I put a shop, it'll be losing a lot of money. Is it a bug or something?

For the record, this was in Chaos Theory Jurassic World mode.

Edit: Buildings were repaired after being hit by a storm, which happened before the above problem occurred.

I had this happen. Shops need to be put DIRECTLY next to an attraction to make money. Have it on a path leading to the attraction, create a main street, have them lining the street leading to the park—nobody enters. Guests only enter if they’re pretty much on top of the viewing platforms and rides.

Good luck making an aesthetically pleasing park when you need to cluster everything together.

Yeah, that needs to be fixed then.

My first JP San Diego—I made a nice cluster of shops at the entrance which looked great and satisfied the red demand for the top half. Then near the bottom I had a sort of mainstreet in front of the t-rex paddock. It looked nice—drained money because nobody went because theyw ere too far from the attractions, even though coverage was apparently satisfied.

Make sure you're placing the shop where there's a high demand for what the shop provides. Also keep an eye on your Guest Interest Groups and see if you can make tweaks to the Internal Modules.

If your park looses attractivity like when a storm occured or a highly attractive dino like the Rex is dying the park rating goes down. Then, your guest number goes down as well and a number of shops go into the negative. Only thing to deal with that is to get the rating high again. Until then you might need to close those shops in the red.

I found that some shops that were previously making money started to lose money as the customer groups changed over time (I'm guessing as there were more guests in the park than before). So I had to go in and update the modules again to get them back into profit. You also need to check the customer count on the shops. Shops that don't have any customers may need moving.
