Shore leave for extended periods

Evening CMDRs,

Due to the nature of my job I am sometimes away from EDH for extended periods, anywhere between a day to a week. When I return I sometimes find my reputation with groups has dropped. I am currently allied and a Chief Petty Officer with the Federation. However, when I returned yesterday to the game I was only "friendly" and a petty officer. This has happened on a number of occassions now and is noted by the red down arrow in the stats section too. Does the sim log inactivity too?

Cheers all,

Hj

Am in the same boat as you, can be away for months at a time. In short, yes it does log inactivity, the good news is rep will only decay to a certain level, getting back to allied is easy.

Naval rank doesn't decay...

Yeah, it's called "reputation decay" and was introduced to help certain players at the extreme ends of the reputation scale (positive or negative) to get back towards neutral...mostly the hostile end, but it affects allied as well.

Yes it does and it affects your reputation. But not by much. I've never seen nor heard that you can lose ranks though. Are you absolutely sure about that CPO?

Mine faction reputation decay from allied to friendly and from hostile to unfriendly. If you are max allied (100%) it will took about week to decay to friendly. Same with hostile. Couple missions/some bounties/exploreration data gets you back to allied.

You definitely shouldn't be losing rank points, let alone actual ranks. Nothing ever causes a demotion.

Can not finishing missions decay reputation too? To be honest I could have sworn I was at CPO...but not 100% sure :p

But good to know. I was worried if it was over a long time I'd come back to nout haha.

Cheers for the responses all :D
