Short lifespans make game unplayable

Just what it says. Beautiful game. Loved JPOG and was psyched for this. But....

Make massive park on sandbox mode. Max out lifespan genomes on all species.

Spend 5 minutes incubating
Spend 5 more minutes traqing and transporting
Dinosaur dies of old age 2 minutes later.
Repeat until fed up.

I'm exhausted and frustrated by the constant incubate/tranq/move/die/remove body cycle. Can we lengthen the lifespans significantly or maybe even add an immortality option for sandbox? I'd like to take a break and look at what I've built for more than 3 seconds without having to repopulate every other paddock every 10 minutes.

Hate to complain. Love the game. But currently playing it is more like a chore.

If your Dinosaurs are dying after two minutes of gameplay [with maxed out genomes] then you're doing something very wrong.

Edit: The majority of my Dinosaurs are living multiple hours of gameplay; I generally play between 2 & 4 hours per 'session', and I have Dinosaurs from early last week that are still roaming around.

Really? Maybe I have a glitch or something. Mine die faster than I can incubate them.

Any method to mess with the game files and remove or modify lifespans?

Me too. You have to replace some, but not alot in a short period of time. Modify their resiliance and lifespan.

The "immortality" of the dinosaurs in the sandbox mode is something that I already added in the wish list, as well as an instantaneous incubation that never fails or a feeder with infinite capacity.

However, as it is now for the campaign / story, it seems perfect, it has to be a challenge.

Literally cannot agree more. So frustrating, I just wanna sit and enjoy my park. This is my only gripe with the game really.

wow. My original ceratosaurs on Matanceros that I created for that first Entertainment mission lasted probably 6 game hours. Most of my other dinos seem to last the same

Bearing in mind how easy money is to get in this game there would really be very little point to currency at all if dinosaurs had longer lifespans than they currently do.

I can understand the annoyance of dinosaurs dying and needing replacement but then that's nature. My only gripe is that I occasionally have 2 or 3 die within a few minutes of themselves, but that pretty much exclusively happens because I've hatched multiple dinosaurs within a very short timespan of each other. Also I typically incubate and release two new dinos when one dies to offset the one that's died and the other one that will soon follow because of my ongoing method

On one of my islands I had a Crichtonsaurus with an estimated lifespan of ~86 but it lived for 167. So there seems to be a bit of randomness in there.

I do agree that a few of then base lifespans could be a little higher, I've never experienced them expiring as fast as OP states.

Yeah. Can't really agree it's gamebreaking. You can edit DNA to extend lifespans significantly (pretty sure lifespans are in months btw) so there's a balance to strike between how many killer genes you add, how much genetic resistance to disease (so you're not treating outbreaks too often) and how long the dinosaurs live.

For me the base genome is what describes 'a T-Rex' so extended life and desease resist DNA are the basics, aggressive genes and so on, only for building high maintenance attraction monsters. Would I like lifespans to be 'a bit' longer than they are? I suppose so but not excessively so. It's the circle of life and I can always name Rexy's replacement, Rexy 2.0 in about 3 seconds.

I think they could extend the life span a bit or even longer or turn off Dino deaths in the Sandbox settings. Mine usually last hours or more. I have had some Dinosaurs live far beyond their life expectancy.

You make it sound like you have a choice. You can't create dinosaurs with a high demand for socializing over a long period of time. Consequently, they die simultaneously.

Its very noticeable when you have a park with over 125 dinosaurs, deaths become frequent due to so many species. Far too frequent than it should tbh. Its noticeable with small parks because you are dealing with far less.

I had a trike on Pena live from the time I began to when I 5 starred the island. I was legit sad. I checked the ID of the dino and it was TRC-001. :(

Maybe the way I play games is different than many, but I do wish I could just spend most of my time driving my park in my jeep and pretend to be a guest sometimes. I find it a bit annoying when you deal with break out crisis because a dino died of old age and the rest of the herd decide to run after all the guests a minute later. Yes part of the challenge, I know... can we modify the threshold of their lack of comfort??

They're grieving man! People (and Dinosaurs) deal with grief very differently.

Sounds like you are keeping your groups on their lower limit - which causes issues like you see when the first dies. Most are much happier with larger groups - except for stegos - they're fussy.
