Short Range Composition Scanner?

I’m rewatching the exploration livestream and I noticed a short range composition scanner in a utility slot of Adam’s ship. I haven’t heard anyone mention this item. There’s a discovery scanner, DSS, and a data link scanner but I’m unfamiliar with this other scanner.

Anyone know what this is?

Sure it was actually in a utility slot? That'll bug me personally, theres already a bajillion modules needed for mining...

Looking at it, it is indeed called a utility in the fire groups section, however, so is the datalink scanner, and that is just fitted on every ship.

In fact, both the data link scanner, and the short range composition scanner have a class of 0.

As opposed to discovery scanner, and detailed surface scanners, which have a class of 1E and 1.

That looks like good news to me.

I hope that this is also fitted to every ship.

Finger in the air, wild stab in the dark, I'd go with mining related. Or maybe it's to finally work out what the annie is made from...
