Short rant about "famous explorer" passangers

I just took a Famous explorer approx. 3200 light years to gather data. Everything was going fine until I got to Carter Port to return the passenger. We got scanned on the way in and suddenly I no longer receive the multi million credit reward for getting the explorer back to the station because the little [REDACTED] did not like being scanned! They tell me to drop them off at the nearest station which is Carter Port. So I take them to where they wanted to go anyway and yet I got nothing from them! All because of the bloody "secretive" thing!

YOU'RE A FAMOUS EXPLORER FOR GOD'S SAKE! IF YOU DIDN'T WANT TO BE SCANNED THEN DON'T BE BLOODY FAMOUS!

I am not taking another one of these passengers until the secrative thing is removed from all of them. I can understand why criminals would want to avoid being scanned but a FAMOUS explorer should have no reason to fear being scanned! You don't become FAMOUS and expect to avoid being noticed!

It's not worth the credits. AVOID TRANSPORTING FAMOUS EXPLORERS!

Phew, I feel a bit better now that's off my chest!

Harsh! You have my sympathy and some sympathetic rep.

But it sounds possibly bugged to me. You can usually get away with being scanned once or twice, with a reduction in your fee, but the third time is a deal breaker. Are you positive you weren't scanned before? If not, may be wise to contact support?

Secretive passengers are a pain, no doubt. But Silent Running and not flying like a maniac will, 99% of the time, take care of that problem.
The only time it really doesn't is when they're also High Value targets, because the NPC's will scan you, repeatedly, while engaging in combat, without having to change their hardpoints, because they can use everything at once and aren't limited by things like Controls, fingers, toes, or any other physical limitations.

Yeah, that was the third scan - keeping in mind that FAMOUS people should have no reason to become dissatisfied due to routine system security scans! The first was from system security as we left Carter Port, the second was from system security as I stopped along the way to pick up an Advanced Discovery Scanner, the third was from system security as we returned to Carter Port.

There are two ways I see to fix this, either make it so their dissatisfaction is not increased by system security scans or put in a mechanism to increase their satisfaction. Seriously, there is absolutely no way to get the satisfaction back up on those FAMOUS explorers!

So we can't eject passengers? I would have dumped him inside the Jet stream of a neutron star.
It was a her, and trust me, I was very tempted!

Sadly, that was not meant to be as only the passenger themselves can pull the ejection handle. And ruin a multi million credit first class cabin set in the process. It would have been worth the loss!

Put a sticker on the handle reading "PULL FOR FREE IN-FLIGHT SNACKS".

Ah. Well, actually, celebs are often notoriously private when not doing official publicity, as the relentlessness of public scrutiny is pretty awful, save for those who are truly egomaniacs - by no means all of them!

They do tell you that before you take the mission, so you know what you are into. That said the mission failing from just one scan is a bit over the top, and on those longrange ones out in the black you should at least get half of the money once you reached the halfwaypoint (scanning the beacon).

I just realized something. How the heck are the passangers aware they are being scanned anyway? That doesn't seem like the kind of thing a pilot would pass along to the passangers over the PA system. Maybe they would tell the cabin crew (if present) via the intercom, but not over the PA system.

The problem I have is that "scan detected" seems to be generic, and independent of the actual scan being performed. I got scanned by a pirate while carrying passengers at a tourist beacon, only to get a bounty for carrying a criminal (one of my passenger's friends) on board. Why would a pirate's cargo scanner even detect a passenger, let alone pass this info on to the cops? To add further insult, I then suffered a reduced satisfaction rating because the chief passenger was upset I'd broken the law!

A cargo scanner should detect cargo, not people.

I don't understand how a scanner can identify a specific person's identity. Has everyone in the future been RFid chipped?

Wouldn't you have to submit a cargo/passenger manifest?

Have to say I really dislike the passengers that ask me to kill the assasins and riff-raff that are trying to kill them, then get passenger happiness decrease, earned while destroying their stalkers.

If the passenger expects you to kill people for them, reduce the hull damage happiness penalty. The beluga has pathetic Sheilds..... and if I refused to carry passengers who might get hostiles after me, I'd never be able to fill the damn ship up.

I don't mind the difficulty of combat while in a beluga and I understand the passenger happiness decrease. But it needs to be more.... Workable. Only minor decrease until 75% then below that it gets much worse much faster.

Pretty sure the KW and Manifest scanners work by hacking the target ship.
After all the one place that has a records of all your outstanding bounties, cargo and passenger manifest is your own ship.

Bought a Beluga to do pass msns but after first fight realized it sucks as a fighter, couldn't beat an asp in it, even w/ a harmless crew. So pulled all weapons to increase jump range and figured I'd just run from everything, but that goes against the grain. So parked the beluga and retrofitted my trade cutter, size 8a shields, OE boosters, a couple cabins and I am in business. My shield is unmodded right now, but 7 OE boosters are all l5 heavy duty, so sitting at 3500 mjs, once reinforced, will push more than 4200, ain't no NPC cutting through that, and I don't have to run unless I want to, but if I do run, with 450 boost, you ain't gonna catch me. And at least I don't have a problem getting the cutter thru the slot, still ain't figured the sweet spot for the beluga.
