Shortcut to toggle docking computer on/off

I like to see a shortcut for the docking computer.
So it can be turned on or off in less then a second.
There already so many moments i like todo that

  • Docking automatic but want to witch to normal. but no time to dive in the right panel.
  • Docking Semi automatic. But need to switch to manual in les sthen second.
  • Docking manual but want to switch to automatic.

Would love to see a shortcut i can assign a key to.

And how dod you do that in 0.3 seconds while you approaching or avoiding troubels and not have time for that ?
Nothing with lazy. but the right panel is to slow.

Seconded

For the same reason we don't have a button to request docking.

Frontier feels it is a skill to press buttons and go through menu's. They also don't want to bog down the UI by giving a PC player an option that becomes difficult to allow a PS4 or Xbox controller to use.

Had this today. Came in for a nice smooth touch down on the pad and hit space (my button for all stop) docking computer kicked in and for some unknown reason flew up and to the side crashing in to the side of the docking pad flood lights. When something like that happens the first thing I do is to hit space, and of course after I do that the docking computer try's to take over again. Would like a key bind for docking on off also.

A simple keybinding is too much to ask? And I don't really see the argument on the PC vs console thing. If ED were cross-platform, perhaps. BGS/PP persistence across platforms doesn't really count, either.

If you accelerate or decelerate, even just a little, the DC turns off. :)

I dont think decelerating works, will check later, so your only choice is to accelerate...not always the best option :)

And annoyingly turning FA off immediately starts DC or does as soon as you turn away from the direction youre travelling, so annoying.....I know I know, FA off and with a DC Im a walking contradiction. :)

you were not locked down when you killed engines?
A feather of throttle will immediately disengage the DC.
I dont understand why it made you zoom off, it should have just dropped you

Reverse throttle does cancel Auto Docking.

Setting throttle to anything but zero is a mostly tolerable workaround, but...

And annoyingly turning FA off ...
Yes, perhaps if they made it so the ADC only functions while FA is on, I could live with it?

Another option (at least on PC) is to use a macro. But of course this is also less than ideal.
