Regular frag, Hudson frag, or Guardian frag. Which, and why. For general PvE purposes.
If you have a class 3 HP, fit a Pacifier, with either Double Shot with Screening Shell or Overcharged.
For Class 2 and 1 fit Regular Frags as above.
Point to Note have one of your frags as Corrosive special, if not already fitted to your ship in some other weapon.
Guardian Frags, no better on Human Targets than the other 2.
My Challenger Frag build. ( https://s.orbis.zone/yxb ) Not settled yet on the Optional Modules as missing a Module reinforcement and just testing if i need one or not!

These things need a nerf imo.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Purlease, enough of the nasty FD Nerf Hammer. Let us shotgun lovers have a bit more fun!
FD, do not take any notice of this Mad Ashman, he is either drunk or delirious (Or Both)
Frags are nothing, Frags are the worst, Frags can't punch through a soggy paper bag, frags will melt your ship (Opps, sorry thats just the mamba), Frags....... Nah just ignore them!!
.EDIT: You asked why...sorry. Because the thing about shotguns and frag cannons is spread. The spread on regular frags is 5* at the barrel. The hudson ones notably less, making them more effective at any range above point blank and MUCH more effective at greater distances.
.
On the other hand, if you can easily get very close to the target, regular frags are preferable. Though, most ships with big enough hardpoints to carry pacifiers are not fast enough for that.
.
.Agreed, though I would say it in terms of what ships you are facing rather than what you are flying. Regulars for any of the big 3, Pacifiers for everything else.I struggle to get close to vipers, even in the chieftain. Railing them to death is very annoying, lol.
.
Also true. It's just usually not on my mind. Generally my loadouts are not built that way. Most of the time I run a versatile setup, with some weapons, e.g. frags or PAs being included as additional punch against large/hard targets.
