Greetings all just thought I'd throw this out there and see what I'm doing wrong.
I was peacefully mining away in my Type 7 ( yes I know they are hateful things, but it's all I can afford right now). After being in the system for about an hour and nearly topped of with my 160 tonnes of juicy ore on board. I got the dreaded ship scanned message. A quick check told me an NPC viper was near by.
Deciding discretion was the best part of valor I prepared to do my best Sir Robin and run away. I have the 5A shield so not quite as paper thin as stock. I started to turn the mighty space cow around and head out of the belt ready to jump away, closing my cargo hatch.
The first laser hit my ship so i fired off the first of my chaff launchers and hit boost. 4 seconds later my shields were gone and as was all my hull and i was a cloud of expanding debris. floating in a hail of blue lasers and red multi cannon shot.
So that was a waste of an hours play and an hour the night before to cover the rebuy cost. I don't mind dying when i feel I have a fair chance of escape, however I don't know what i could have done differently against this NPC.
Can anyone point out were i went wrong? (apart from buying a Type 7)
