Should FD add PhysX to Elite?

There is a reason why Physx isn't used in most games.

Physx is proprietary NVIDIA solution. It would instantly degrade the game for all xbox players and AMD Graphics card users.
Not to mention Frontier would need to presumably cough up some money to NVIDIA.

Its as good as dead as far as gaming is concerned, only a handful of titles have used it in the last few years.

Great reason not to use it, independence all the way!!!

It wouldn't change their experience at all. They'd have exactly the same game they've always had and Nvidia users would gain something.

You are talking so much bull right now physx is an nvida only solution that does physics calculations on the GPU. However it is not compatible with amd GPUs and their for the calculations are moved to the CPU which creates a bottleneck greatly impacting performance, just look at Project CARS benchmarks to see what I mean as that is a game built entirety on physx. Also seeing as the physics are dam good in this game for the most part no one would gain anything and we would all suffer a performance hit most likely.

So the game can become another poorly optimized mess that is incapable of running well? As nice as detailed ship destruction would be, I far more prefer the game running well.

PhysX is middleware which you use if you don't want to use CPU resources for physics emulation and don't want to spend time to write your own middleware. FD doesn't have this issue, as they seem how to squeeze stuff they need from all kind of systems.

If they're going to do something that requires a big engine overhaul I'd rather see a move to dx12 or vulkan.

Vulcan first, then DX12. Why? because Vulcan will make sure they are independent and can be used outside M$ paywall.
