Newcomer / Intro Should I bother repairing the rookie ship?

Pretty straight forward. I'm green so 400 credits due to my crappy flying/landings each time to repair my ship seems like such a waste. Would it be better of me to just wreck my ship and get a new one for free in order to save those credits or is there some sort of fine or consequence upon dying and getting a new rookie ship?

I would suggest you try out the tourials missions instead until you can actually fly the ship without damaging it... The only time you should get any damage is if you are in a fight otherwise you shouldn't get any damage.. So try the missions and improve upon your skills before getting out there ;-)

Happy training... :D

Not strictly true ..... you actually incur a repair bill due to wear and tear on your ship just by flying it. Even evading interdiction causes damage.

But Evils advice is good ...... practice by using the tutorials ..... it's free !!!

Or when you accidentally hit boost when in station ...

When I started I took the view it was practice and just learned to fly and fight. I never bothered with repairs, just crashed my ship into the walls when the hull was nearly totaled. Once you start upgrading your ship you cannot do that of course. So it depends what you want to do. The other thing is every death is on your stats.

depends also if you start adding/upping anything on the sidewinder which can be a good idea to help speed things along. 400 seems a lot though, what are you doing?
