Should I bother to grind for Prismatic Shields?

Yes, I meant it was said several times "prismatic is a must for big ships". What do people think about the python? Is it a "must" for the Python if you want to go shooting things?

It's usually not reffered to as a big ship, but prismatic shields are perfect for the Python anyway.

Ninja'd and answered the question, thanks.

I run Prismatics on all my ships. They are heavier so keep that in mind for jump range on the ships you add them to.

Thanks for all the info in the thread :) I think after getting the mining laser when they first came out in PP, it's time to go try powerplay for the shields :)

Good thread!!!

Lol a couple of cargo runs to deliver some porno mags for ALD doth not a grind make - unless you stop off somewhere on the way...

But yes they’re worth it. More so on big ships.

Remember to stock up for all your needs as you lose access to them once you unpledge.

Yeah but repeating the whole "buy 10, click 'accept', click 'back to menu'" thing sixty four times to fill up a Cutter is pretty-much the dictionary definition of a "grind".

I mean, seriously, is there any sane reason why a player couldn't just take as many as they want and pay the required amount when they click 'accept'?

Oh yeah, I reckon I'd blanked that bit :(

No, you absolutely should not "grind" for any PP modules - if your only interest is in obtaining modules, you do it Module Tourist style:

1. Sign up with the Power you desire to gain a module from on Thursday, just after the PP Update.
2. Continue to play as you always do for 3 weeks, 6 days - this will put you on Wednesday, before the tick.
3. Haul 750 tons of Fortification materials to a system that needs it. You can check this on the Power Play interface.
4. Log back in the following day and purchase the module you desire.

If you have a suitable ship, you're talking about 2 trips back and forth hauling materials. If this is "too much grind", you're playing the wrong game.

Ever since that issue, my stock has been rising more than your bunk.

I've got most of the PP things I want and am down to the couple mostly useless weapons and Prismatic Shields. I'm not sure I'll like them enough to use them.

It's an easy grind at the end of the month to get them and I have plenty of credits, so should be grind and then buy some?

I'm curious if after heaving engineering on the various shield types, the Prismatic shields really add that much value vs the down side of the slower recharge.

IMHO they are only worth it if you need to max out a ship cargo capacity or if you're into 1vs1 PvP. Otherwise they consume tons of power and are far too slow to recharge - give me bi-weaves any day.

Speaking as a representative of the glorious Princess Aisling Duval....

Yes they are worth it. The versatility of the Shields and the ability to free up a higher ranked slot by using them is invaluable in many ships in the game.

....

Personally, I always have "sign up with a PP faction" on my to-do list before I leave on an exploration trip.

That way, it's always ready for me to do the letterboxing part when I get back. [up]

Prismatics x 1000, especially on big ships. Bi-weaves suck unless on a pure hull tank like the FAS or Chiefton. Watching an FDL with bi-weaves get run out of a has rez due to hull damage is hilarious.

I run Prismatics on my Vette, Clipper, Python, and FDL. They are totally worth it. Ships that benefit more from hull tanking with bi-weaves. Chieftain, FAS, Vulture.

I going to have to join her again in the future to get them for my Cutter. I didnt have it when I was pledged to her before.
