Should I Buy Or Not

Hi guys,

I'm a total noob on these forums and have been watching the forums for some time just reading up etc. Now I should state I am about to buy the game but what I want to know is - should I buy the Premium Beta now or the Standard Beta? I am not too fussed about the lifetime expansion with the Premium Beta - I am more concerned if it's worth buying the Premium when it says Standard goes on sale on the 29th. At a difference of £50 it's worth asking the question I think lol

If you don't currently care for the expansion pass I would say go for the Standard Beta and just wait until the 29th. however if you THINK you may want to hedge your bets and get the expansion pass I would STILL say get Standard Beta and just add in the pass as a add on, it works out cheaper than Getting Premium Beta.

Edit: Just noticed my post count is 333... so i'm only 1/2 as evil as some here think I am.

At this moment the best option would be Standard Beta and the Lifetime Expansion because those expansions will add so much to the Elite universe.

I don't know why people think you are bad, but 1/2 out of infinite evil is still... pretty much, very much... ALOT.

Thanks Toff and fireFly1000 - I will follow your well suggested strategy of Standard Beta and Lifetime expansion - will I be able to access the Beta version of the game at time of purchase on the 29th - or do I need to wait? Sorry for the questions lol

Sorry guys just seen the answer to that in that Standard Beta is projected to start 29th July - also of note is the chance to buy the Lifetime Expansion ends on the 29th - so I guess I better buy the standard beta and lifetime expansion pronto

You can play the 10 single player missions right now, all the rest coming the 29th (with Standard Beta)

If you buy the beta, you can play the single player combat missions today. Just check your 'my downloadable products'. You will be able to play the full beta on the 29th.

At this point I'd say just get standard Beta and the expansion pass as there is not long to wait now until Beta.

As mentioned you get the single player missions right now, and they are well worth playing. Both because they're fun and because they give you a good chance to practice a lot of the flight and combat mechanics in a straightforward way. No loss if you die, no having to fly back from the station and find some action again.. just straight back in with a decent load out and give it another go. They are pretty challenging too.

I would say be a little patient, just wait till the game gets released and see what startup options are on offer. If you wait till the game is released you might well find that you can buy it with many of the Kickstarter options reintroduced - certainly optional starting ships/locations and possibly some of the decals and access to the founders world as well might be put on offer for purchase, not to mention the boxed sets and possibly also music/book tie in offers etc. And the expansion pack is bound to be made available later as well.

At the moment there is little point in buying into the game unless you definitely want to help fund its development a bit more. I bought into the game early just to get some of the Kickstarter benefits - primarily Founders world access. But now you will definitely get a better deal by waiting for the general release [if you can].

I would say buy the standard beta right now. If you play the missions and like what you see, then you have until the 29th to decide if you want to pay extra for the expansion pass or just stick with the game and see how it all work out.
