Newcomer / Intro should I buy the eagle?

I have enough credits to buy the eagle which is like 44k but is it good for trading stuff? Or should I save up to get 55k credits and buy a hauler for trading or mining?

Depends on what you'd like to do first.

If you're interested in combat/bounty hunting you can always pick up an eagle first and get it fitted, then work towards a hauler to do trading.

Eagle still comes with a 2 slot cargo so you can still do the basic 1-2 item deliveries, etc.

The Eagle is a light fighter, not a trader. So it depends on your preference.
I went from Sidewinder to Viper myself, but I tried the Eagle later in my game. Simply because I wanted to experience it.
FD has done a superb job of giving every ship its own distinct character and the Eagle is a nice agile combat craft.

Could always try the Adder (I went Adder > Cobra). Good size, can fit more cargo space, not expensive to run, good account of itself in combat (against Sidewinder/Eagle or similar). Fitted a fuel scoop and a torpedo launcher (for those really bad fights).

Miss it and go to Adder if you want a mix boat - or fix up an old hauler as a decent trade/mission/explo.. Like Iskariot says they are all worth flying/trying but you have to balance the money return early on and tbh you could fit out the sidewinder and keep hunting wanted targets almost as efficiently and cheaper than spending a chunk on the eagle IMO.

I've just stepped from the sidewinder to the eagle because i'm near a RES and i want the extra weapon slot for missiles, keep the BL and MC in there from sidey, to shoot down the bigger cobras and such that show their faces where i'm at, 23kc a pop.

Eagle is just really a slightly more dangerous, but rather weaker and stronger sidewinder.

I use an Eagle for fine small-level bounty hunting, they're great fun to fly, but really not a good ship for trading.

Everyone should have an Eagle though - even if you wait until later when your "main" ship is much bigger. :)
I'm going to take mine to Sol tonight for the "celebrations" mentioned a few days ago on GalNet...cheap to replace too if anything terribly wrong goes wrong there...

I use an Eagle ( cost me 120K with equipment ) for bounty hunting only at Nav Beacon in my system (no cargo racks). Lot of fun stealing big bounties from the Cops jumping in the dogfight when target is under 25%, also doing some combat training, aiming fixed multicannons at small fast moving targets ( Sidewinders and Eagles ). ( 1 beam laser - 2 fixed MC - Chaff - Shield cell bank )

I didn't really like my Eagle when I got one, I'd say deck an adder out instead, Viper when you got the funds for some bounty hunting. Vipers a mean beast.
