Before you jump into a Vulture try a Viper with turrets on the small hard points, they compensate for the lower agility of the ship, two small pulse wont drain the weapon cap and it'll fire all four energy weapons for 10 seconds or so.

The Vulture is the best fighting ship in the game pound for pound. Set up right it will eat up any NPC.

Yes the Python is a beast but its expensive to set up and thus the insurance cost if you toast it makes it uneconomical to take fighting.

And the Vulture is such fun to fly.
