Should i pledge allegiance or remain a loner?

Been thinking about pledging lately but I can't decide to who or if I even should. I enjoy being independent but I feel as if I may be missing out on some fun with the power play side of things. So I decided to ask for opinions. Any help is appreciated. Thanks commanders.

Kumo Crew is always looking for Scurvy Dogs to join up and pirate all the sweet sweet Booty that the galaxy has to give

A major issue I have with PP is that you'll end up "Hostile" flagged in a good size portion of the bubble. Which, if you are independent and like to do things your own way, will make participating in things like a Community Goal in another Power Play faction's territory more difficult.

You might want to look at the Forum: Dangerous Groups for Xbox One first. Minor factions (Dangerous Groups) are player groups that have staked a claim on a particular system. Find one with similar game interests as yours and see if you like it. The upside is you'll have a place to call home with likeminded individuals and won't be labeled as "Hostile" in enemy Power Play faction territory. The downside is you won't receive the weekly bonuses that come with PP rank, or the weapons (which mainly suck) of longer-term PP participation. Of course, you can find minor factions that are also aligned with a particular Power Player faction, too.

As far as I can tell, there are no consequences to being flagged as 'hostile'. I'm allied with the feds, imperials and alliance. Every time I get scanned by the local space cops in a supposedly 'hostile' system, nothing happens. Ever. I just ignore the warning now. The only one that seems to count is 'wanted'.

Thanks for that info. I will definitely look into the player groups. That sounds like something more to my liking. Knew I would find my answers here. Love this forum.

Well that was my push for you to join Archon Delaine, but in all seriousness PP does add difficulty to the game alot of difficulty but it also helps drive it foward if you can find a group of like minded people so you can all work towards your shared goal of domination. If your truly interested in it I would read each of the powers descriptions and join the one that best suits your personal tastes or maybe whichever just seems interesting

It's not the cops that are an issue if you are 'Hostile' (cops only go after "Wanted"), it's the NPC Enforcers. that will attack you. Like Mahon's "Alliance Enforcers" labeled NPCs if you are in his terrority and are not Mahon aligned:

Oh, and if I WAS going to play PP I would totally be Kumo Crew. Fergal (he is their leader(?) in the ED forums) is pretty cool.
(Sorry SCDudeDark, didn't mean to flame on your recruitment drive. ;) )

Well, that explains why I get interdicted when I'm minding my own business, lol.
Still, it's just an annoyance you have to put up with if you pledge to a power I guess. I usually just submit and boost away. Can't be bothered fighting them most of the time.

It's cool I didn't take it that way and Fergus is pretty cool dude does crazy work with the in game stats and organizing the faction

One thing I would like to emphasize is that Power Play is not new-player friendly. I'm not saying this is the case, just generalizing. You can get by with pledging and being a lone wolf in a combat-related Faction, but to really get your hands dirty you'll need large ships and lots of credits. Power Play is deep and involved, almost to the point of consuming your entire play time with managing system fortification, expansion, undermining, managing turmoil. And that aspect is very group-centric. I enjoy it very much, but I joined up too early in my opinion. With seven days between cycles, there's a lot to do. Again, almost to the exclusion of other in-game activities. There's BGS manipulation for one, which is difficult for me to manage on top of Power Play. And those Community Goals? Time to make some choices. In fact, the player-group I'm with has officially sworn off Power Play, leaving it as a personal choice instead of a membership requirement.

Now having said that, the clear choice here is Senator Zemina Torval. Laugh it up, fuzzball, she's my lady. I'm a Merchant and she makes sure I get PAID.

I joined up with Space Terminator a few weeks ago, and really haven't regretted it so far. I was looking for something fun to do on the side while back in the bubble, and that's what I got.

Honestly, the first week is more or less the toughest. I'm lucky with Hudson because there's a great group of players who communicate with each other and give plenty of noob-friendly help.

I never aspired to rank 5, and was happy with rank 4. Once you grind out the 1,500 merits for the first week, after that half your merits carry over from week to week. So now I don't have to grind 1,500 to keep rank 4...it's only like 700 or 600 or even 500 depending on what I was doing :)

Thanks. That is some of the insight I was looking for. I like my freedom and at this point in my gameplay I dont want to lose that. I'm looking into some player groups. Now I just have to make that decision or just stay a loner. If anyone has any recommendations on player groups throw em at me.

Not entirely true. If I see a hostile commander (I mean belonging to a faction openly hostile to mine, like KC) I can kill him in the station without a consequences and becoming wanted. (well, except a fine for firing within the no fire zone)
AKA No safe haven outside your borders. ;)

Well, if you insist...

I am the first XBOX One recruit for the East India Company, a PC based player-group. At this moment I have other screens open as I'm putting together a Recruitment Memo for the XBOX Groups sub-forum. The East India Company is based out of Harvestport, Kappa Fornacis. We will be recruiting for any and all player types, be it: Merchant, Miner, Combat Pilot, Bounty Hunter, Bush Pilot, Pirate, Criminal, Champion of the Innocent, you name it.
The East India Company is an Imperial aligned militant merchant business. In the interest of business, we do not support any one Power Play Faction as we keep the doors of commerce open to all. Power play is a personal choice. Also of note, you do not have to be pursuing Imperial goals only. We welcome Federation, Alliance and Independents. However, when around the Kappa Fornacis area you will be expected to push Imperial interests, as we are after all an Imperial company. Our BGS manipulation takes precedent over all personal business surrounding our home system. Outside of our local systems and BGS, members are free to pursue their own agendas.
If interested, send me a message over XBOX or PM me. We can party chat if you would like more details, I just need to sort them out on paper. I am not running the show by any means, we have a well established leadership group. I've JUST been given the green light to begin recruiting. So I'm working on it :)
