Should I Roll Engineering Now or Next Week?

I haven't kept up on the Engineering balancing because it's difficult to track what's going on with beta versus what's rolling out next week.

Having said that, should I hold out on dumping mats into engineering rolls until Beyond drops next week? Is there an advantage to rolling for godrolls now, will be be better/worse than what's to come?

From what I understand, if you're looking for maximum efficiency then I'd suggest go for one roll on everything you want done up, then leave it at that regardless of stats. That'll let you skip a couple grades in the new system

That's sensible advice, but I'm thinking are the higher end materials better kept for the trader to do one backwards swap? Not sure what the final swap rate will be :/

G3 and G4 often uses some of the same materials needed for G5 - I've been 1-rolling G5s to skip that.

Yeah, with the grandfathering and converting, old rolls will convert to the new system as maxed one grade lower, thus eliminating the requirement to go through the grade progression on a new 3.0 module.

That said, no way in hell am I converting my exploration power plant. 2a grade 1 low emissions, 22% heat reduction, and secondaries that make the mass lower than stock, and an actual increase in power over stock. Godroll G1 that can not be beaten with the new system.

Of course! But only if you intend on rolling every module now, for every ship you currently own and every ship you might ever own, including ships that havn't been released yet, and accounting for any future balancing passes on all ships/modules...

I've engineered everything I have up to G5. I always have, and having gone through the beta, I recommend it to cut down the amount of time that it will take to get modules up to G5, not to mention the time it will take to collect and/or trade materials. I've even collected fresh modules I plan to use for my chieftains, and engineered and stored those.

Do what ever you want to do.

I've just recently got all the engineers up to level 5 , now i'm taking all modules/weapons/utility mounts in all my ships to G5 (one roll only), plus a few extra of each module type that i'm going to store away for future ships. oOnce that's done it's store up on very rare materials and data. It's been a busy few weeks considering i hadn't even bothered visiting any of the engineers until just a couple of weeks ago, when they announced the changes!

Wait! Beyond is next week?!

My internet is not prepared!
I haven't even started breeding additional carrier pigeons yet!

Oh wait, my parents have fibre now.
Gonna sneak my laptop over and download it from there, then copy it to my PC. :D

It's a sad state when it's faster to drive 30~ miles and download it, than wait for it at home.

As for Engineers.... No idea.
