Should I sell my A class Cobra and get a Vulture

Vulture is very single minded and only good for one thing. Cobra can be many things.

I almost exclusively use a Vulture now but it's a pita when you want to carry anything.

I have an A class Cobra and Vulture that I am building up and having flown both I can say that you would have to tear the Cobra out of my cold dead hand before I would let it go. The Vulture is probably the most singular in purpose ship in the game, apart from its gun convergence which I am still getting used to it is an out and out predator. For all of that the Cobra is the Swiss Army knife of the ships in the game, there is very little it can't do. I might be back to 'cleansing' a few RES's and it is quicker in the Vulture, the Cobra could do it just as well with a little more time. on the other hand If I am going on a long haul trip to one of my preferred haunts in the vulture I sit there wishing I was in the Cobra.

Final analysis, use the Cobby to build up the money to buy and half decently fit out the Vulture and keep them both !

my 2 cents?
I have a fully A rated Vulture and i switched back with my good old Viper...i know, not the best ship (i still hope in some little balance tweak) and is way underpowered compared to a Vulture, but that feeling i have with MY Viper is stunning...plus let me say i PvP versus vultures, and i can assure you that if you got the correct feeling with your ship and learn how to fit and fly it you will be very satisfied...

Don't sell ships, you never know when you might want them. Only ship I've ever sold was the T6, regretted it and bought another.
In part this explains my leisurely progress, but is also why you'll never see any "Whaaa, lost my 'Conda and can't afford insurance" posts from me either.

Thanks everyone, I've stored my Cobra up in Founders World and used the 10 million I had to buy the Vulture and started to kit it out. Had a quick trip out to the Nav beacon and back with a couple of Wanted ships crossing my trigger sights. What's everyone recommendations on loadout?

NO (Apparently there is a minimum of * characters...)

Buy a sidewinder and leave your Cobra at the station. Geta Vulture and try it out... when you are done playing with your new toy either sell it or leave it at a station and buy a new sidewinder. Keep in mind that if you die and ever get stuck in a sidewinder... with no money and you still owe.. You can go get any of your ships that you have left scattered all over the universe. xD
ISN"T THAT GREAT!!!

I think it depends on your intended targets and skill level. For smaller ships twin pulse is good - fixed if you can fly, gimbaled if not. For larger fare, I run a beam laser / C3 canon setup, gimbaled for targeting subsystems.

For PvE i always run dual plasma because it is so much fun.

For PvP use dual pulse to enable an A fit with a good shielding solution and ancillaries such as chaff

For PvE kills, using a Vulture with shield boosters and dual pulse is incredibly efficient, but so boring...
For PvP, they do fine, until you meet a few big birds such as Fer de Lance...but the insurance claim is not that high, right? ;)

Since last month I went back to the Cobra and have 5 of them with different configurations (interceptor, light bomber, smuggler, stealth miner, yaaarrrr!).
For PvE, it is much more challenging and fun!
For PvP, you won't kill much but can run away from anybody! Anyway, a PvP against experience commanders end up with one high waking as soon as the shield drops...

That is exactly what I did a while back, traded in my B/A class Cobra for a Vulture. However, I'd recommend making sure to have enough money to upgrade the FSD in the Vulture after you buy it. It has a very low out of the box jump range, I think it's in the realm of 7 LY.

When I bought mine, I spent at least an hour making short hops to systems digging for a better FSD, and I had to sell weapons/other parts off of it to make sure I had a rebuy available afterwards.

I just bought the cobra last night and put it into stash after one round. To continue Rare-Trading in a cheap Asp.

Its a pity if the biggest ship in the game is not really useful for anything than posing.

I hate to admit it but that's so true - Vulture set up like that takes down almost anything in PvE but it's like there's no contest - it's like 'Pew Pew Pew, next ..'
