Proposal Discussion Should I upgrade to "Founder"?

A self-indulgent proposal I know and I already have the Premium Boxed set an'all but I am pondering upgrading to "Founder" ... Anyone have a good reason...?

Hmm, not really, unless it is just to show support by donating some more money. I can see the point in an extra £10 to be in round 1 beta, or £110 to be in the alpha (if that is of interest), but not £60 for the minimal benefit of Founder's level.

I started playing Elite back in ’85 on my old C64 computer. I worked hard and made it up to DEADLY, until my real world Military Service and later life decisions halted my game time on the C64. Move forward over 23 years, and I now have a C128. I loaded up Elite and to my pleasant surprise my last saved game is still intact. I’m now considering getting a little trigger time for nostalgia sake.

With all that being said, I am excited about this newest generation in the Elite Franchise and I am honored to donate for a Founding Member of the Elite. Not for any perks which may be granted, but because I believe in David Braben’s dream of “The Elite” Universe.

Ultimately, the choice is yours to upgrade to "Founding Member of the Elite". Best Wishes!

Welcome to the forum Xantraus and your still playing Elite on a C128! Thanks for supporting the game. :)

Thank you, and you're welcome, Geraldine. I'm happy I could contribute.

Yes, still playing Elite on a Commodore 128. I'm discovering how rusty my combat skills really are...

Kudos Xantraus that just shows how good the original elite really was/still is
Welcome aboard the ride has only just begun!

A self-indulgent proposal I know and I already have the Premium Boxed set an'all but I am pondering upgrading to "Founder" really just to reflect the hundred ney thousands or hours I've probably spent in my youth playing this masterpiece and reflecting this on the side of my shiney new ship (so everyone one knows!).

It doesn't seem that popular as there's loads of spaces left, but, should I upgrade? Is it worth it? Maybe it's just pure vanity? But even so who cares?Perhaps it'll help DB and his chief Grpahic Artist have an extra brandy over Xmas...who could argue with that. Perhaps that Brandy will inspire a whole new class of ship that will go on to define the genre as it's new signature ride...or maybe I'm kidding myself - it is quite alot of money!

Anyone have a good reason...?

hello gully
ask raistlin he'll tell you to do just that
offcourse you should donate
but not to become a founder
become an alpha, or just pledge because of the cause

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Disagree, i like titles, ranks, and particularly shiny badges(the magpie in me!) of course it dosnt add any skills to ones self, but kinda nice knowing there wont be many Founders amongest the multitudes(and off course a few perks to for being a Founder)

and yes maybe a vain badge but we are all here for different reasons game-play wise, some will take no notice of Founders and others will(even target them! the dastardly fiends!)

If tight on the money no, if your vein and do have the money yes ;)

Agree. I'm definitely happy I sprung for Founder, but it's a lot of money to be sure. If you are just after the game, then of course it's of questionable value. I'm looking forward to how a founder status is reflected in game (will NPCs talk to you differently? Will missions be different or have greater variety/reward?)

Well, I sprung for founder for me and gifted a premium boxed edition for the teen sprog.

Not only that, but I've got to build him a rig to play the game, AND THEN one for me.

Way, way, way, way too much money, but what the heck.

I figure the money I'm spending will be recouped by the savings on going out. That is, I'll never be able to afford to again... ;)

I backed the Premium Boxed Edition for 90+15 £. I refleckt a long time and was fine with my decision.

But short after Backing Time was over, i regret, that i dont upgrade to Founder level for 150+15 £. Crackbraining psychological thing. You always want, what you cant get anymore.
