Should my tactical decision have more of a consequence?

Currently fly a Vulture with fixed C3 Beam Lasers and various other A-spec modules etc. Which leaves me slightly short of power when I drop into a combat situation. No problem though as my FSD is set to priority 2 and I don't need that whilst in combat right!

Did occur to me however, that if I need to escape I simply retract my weapons and FSD is immediately available for me to jump out again.

Im wondering however, should the FSD be immediately available? I've made the choice to "turn it off" to get away with fitting large weaponry? There should also be a tactical downside to this. I.e the FSD should take a while to "Power Up" before you can use it.

For each decision we make as commanders there should be a tactical advantage and a balancing disadvantage in doing so.

Your FSD is not immediately available. After you retract your weapons there will be a spool-up time required before your FSD is operational.

There is a slight delay after you do that before you can actually start charging. it leaves more time for bullets to find their way into your thrusters!

Well just jumped in game now, deployed weapons, quick burst with the old trigger then retracted weapons and was able to immediately charge the FSD to jump out.

Doesnt seem to be a "Power Up" delay before you can charge your FSD.

Check to make sure that the FSD actually shuts down. Maybe something else is shutting down before your FSD has to. Or, manually turn your drive off, try to charge it, then turn turn it on and see what happens.

Good call, so just done that for you. Just left Lave, got out of the mass locked zone. Manually turned off the FSD turned it on and was immediately able to start charging the FSD....

...for fun also tried manually turning it off whilst in supercruise...it immediately dumped me out of supercruise with hull damage which is what you would expect.

In my last gaming session, just an hour a go, I experienced delays between retraction, and availability. Keep your situation under your Remlok or they will be adding it to the patch notes.

yep...but I kind of like the consequences of my tactical decisions so wouldn't mind this fixed/changed.
