Should solo and open mode be seperated?

Should players have to change to a different profile when switching from open and solo mode?

Right now the easiest way to earn money, is to switch from open mode, and start trading, in solo mode where the only real threat is the terribly designed space stations. NPC pirates are useless and give players plenty of opportunities to escape, without harm. The order of events leading up to player switching to solo seems to go like this:

-player starts playing the game
-player realizes that trading is the most profitable job
-player begins trading
-player gets killed by another player
-player rushes to their browser to cry on elite dangerous forums
-player switches to solo
-player stack up credits easily without any threats
-player buys their desired ship, and outfits it
-player returns to open mode

After this many players seem to return to open mode, after deciding to take a break from trading. Some of them become bounty hunters, while others become pirates, using their fully outfitted ships to prey on the useless dregs, who didn't exploit the game.

-player buys their desired ship, and outfits it

This right here is a clear sign that you don't have a good understanding of the mechanics of this game - because there is not such thing as "desired ship" or "god mode gears".

Everything is a trade off.

For example me personally I like Eagle and Viper best for combat. I think they are the deadliest combat crafts you can use in experienced hands because you can't shake them - yet Eagle and Viper are 2 of the cheapest ships in this game.

I've been trading in open mode since release... carrying nice juicy loads of high tech goods, if you were so worried about traders not running into CMDR Pirates then you should have come and got me if you want open mode to be more dangerous than solo then it's up to you to make it more dangerous... So far you aren't succeeding. As it was I was in open mode and it was as trouble free as you say solo mode is.

Because switching from open to solo, just to earn credits easier, is kinda cheating..

Cheating in which competition are we talking about?

So I played solo some day back in gamma. was that cheating?
I don't understand the cheating part still though.
Perhaps I'm missing something - perhaps you can elaborate for me.

no. you're beating a dead horse man

Well I wasn't around to beat the horse when it was alive!

...but it seems pretty ridiculous to me that a player in solo mode can effect the online server in any way what so ever. And although we can argue to what extend ED is a true MMO, however this is why many MMOs have separate servers for different rulesets PvP, PvE, etc...
