Should the new modules be unlocked?

I'm just curious as to what the majority would rather have. Too bad polls are gone :(

Would you keep the modules and weapons behind a competitive grind wall that lasts for weeks?
Or would you rather them be treated as every other module and weapon and just available in the right stations?

You can probably guess which one I'm for. I'm also not apposed to still have them locked inside of certain power factions, but everyone should be able to get them once they get enough rep. Keep the competitive rewards less meaningful like bounes/discounts or even special decals. Locking out something that will most like affect the actual gameplay seems like a horribly poor decision.

I'm also not a fan how how long it will take to earn them and the fact that NO ONE CAN TEST THEM to see if they're broken or overpowered. These things don't even have to exist for another month because no one can get their hands on one.

I think you exaggerate the effectiveness of the new equipment. For example I'll be most likely joining the Alliance - but I will have no use whatsoever for there special weapon as long as a fly a Python ( which I intend to do for a good while still )

To be honest, it probably would be a good idea to have them open right away for the beta purposes. It´s entirely possible that the beta ends before many (or any) people unlock and test them before patch is going live. :)

Re beta testing, it's actually a good point. I've no beta access myself, but wondering the same thing, if they take so long to get, who will test them? How? When?

I can completely understand not wanting these powerful things immediately available for everyone. So then would you still rather keep it like it is now, competitive, or make it so you have to be a certain standing/rank to get access to them on your own merits not compared to anyone? The bonuses and things like that can remain competitive because that's just a convenience thing that only relates to credits.

The only thing I'm somewhat concerned about :

What if the Allegiance you seek offers only stuff you don't need?
A Power might offer all the cool gear - but my heart might already be with another (and not opportunistic = I wouldn't choose a Power to support for the candy they give me).

I'd prefer all Powers having at least partially access to specific gear of all sorts - which the Player could choose from when reaching certain ranks.

Good point - what I will do with small beam lasres I do not yet know ( having a Python atm )
