Should the Type-7 and Clipper be able to deploy a fighter?

I wonder if the Type-7 and the iClipper should receive the possibility to carry and deploy a fighter. They are very large ships, and there's no reason why a Keelback can and them can not. By now, both ships suffer of lack of care. The iClipper is a lovely ship, at least, but the Type-7 is almost regrettable in its current form...

You'd think, given they use a large pad? [Edit: And have the bays for it]

I'm thinking the Keelback got a SLF to provide an entry level option for newer players with less CR. I know that's why I got one, right before the patch dropped so I could check it out. Unfortunately the KB isn't very tanky and it met with a, er... Accident that left the copilot with permanently disabled space legs and unable to fly since...

A sensible limit might be large pad but then you'd need to consider the Orca, which really should be able to use a mommy-whale medium pad. Is the Dolphin small, I haven't bought one yet?

Of course there's a reason. When they were designed there wasn't a SLF bay built into the superstructure. Ships that can carry SLF were designed for that job since their creation.

Except the Keelback can and the Type 6 can't, so there's more to it than just ship design, there's ship purpose. The Keelback is an armoured up version of the Type 6 designed to carry freight into and through combat zones and anarchy systems and needs the added protection, presumably the Type 6 and Type 7 aren't meant to do that, only potter around safe areas. Not sure why the Type 9 heavy does have them, but then again it isn't as nimble as the Type 6 and Type 7 and can't run as well so maybe it needs it for defence!

Well, the T7 hauls a lot for a very cheap craft. It's also next to impossible to bring down from supercruise. The T7 is awesome. It does it's dedicated task extremely well. Pic is a bit old as now it also has name and ID plates. I'm in it now.

The Clipper definitely does NOT need a fighter bay; it's perfectly fine as it is. I can see the argument for a fighter on a T7 but it wouldn't really serve any purpose. The fighter wouldn't work well as defense against a player as they would simply ignore it and shoot the T7 as it isn't designed for spending any time in combat. NPC interdictions are rather easy to escape in a T7; even if they manage to pull you out of SC it's pretty simple to outrun an NPC pirate.

No, not necessarily.

You seem to be of the fallacious opinion that every vessel of a certain size should be able to carry fighters.
This does not make sense in real life and this does not make sense in the ED universe either.

My favourite ship the Python can't have fighters either. That is simply how things are.
Faulcon DeLacy never designed it to carry fighters and Lakon never designed the T-7 to carry fighters and Gutamaya never designed the Clipper to carry fighters. If they had they would have added 20 million to the price, and then their customers would run away.

Not really. Not a real issue, anyway...

Sorry but I don't remember the T6 having a fighter bay in lore from the start?

The ships that were designed for SLFs quite literally had it built into the structure, and were defined as being able to launch fighters from a bay that was physically present on all ships even before the update for them.

In regard the type-7, if able to deploy a fighter, could became usable at least for mining... currently, I see any real niche for her. It can't even land on medium pad...

I really want to stress that at least the Type-7 should be able to carry and deploy a fighter. It's a really interesting ship, though by now it's almost useless. I would like to mine with her, but without a fighter bay, uhhmmm...

Hello, devs... anybody home?
