Steady on!Orbit lines will appear in both eyes.
... lthough I think DB is being a little short sighted ...
... And the other problem is, trying to use it in a family environment, it’s really divisive. Because no one can see or hear what you’re seeing.”...
I was thinking more like recruitingSix Years ago he said: You need at least 4k per eye and 90 Hz. I guess most VR users would agree
He also said 6 years ago that it is a wonderful thing...
Plz do not buy Fdev if you win the lottery. It reads like everyone will loose their job within 3 years if you take over.
Fix the game to 60Hz and let ASW upconvert it to 120Hz. This is the same feature that RTX4 and now RTX5 are bragging about, frame upconversion and Meta had it years ago. You will probably be able to turn up the resolution over what Meta Link is recommending for your cpu/gpu (it does not account for ASW locked on). Even better upgrade to the paid Virtual Desktop for the more preformant VDXR to replace SteamVR with OpenComposite switcher, better codecs and better SSW feature. My Quest 3 does 3k per eye up to 120Hz, though I keep it at 72Hz so I can pump up the pretty-pretties (I’m currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 with mostly High/Ultra settings - no ray tracing though - at a resolution of 3k x 3k, and it looks amazing) and compared to the first headset I got in 2017 it’s a massive upgrade.
I’m not a fan of ASW artifacts - and having tried various settings I’m quite happy sticking with 72Hz. I’ve got/used VD but to be honest I didn’t see much performance difference to AirLink, so I just stick with that these days as I don’t have to faff around changing runtimes.Fix the game to 60Hz and let ASW upconvert it to 120Hz. So the comments about VR needing hi rez/Hz dual screens are silly when desktop players with sim rigs are buying triple 240Hz 4k monitors - that is MORE bandwidth than VR requires!
Fascinating chart - so games industry is writing 4k games that really need a 4090 and spending millions to make sure you realize you need it for 4k not to suck - but VR is a niche? Quest already was outselling XBOX - so it outsold Sony too?I’m not a fan of ASW artifacts - and having tried various settings I’m quite happy sticking with 72Hz. Steam VR isn’t active in those games I’ve got there - OpenComposite ftw - and CP2077 is running through GoG Galaxy with the VR mod using Oculus runtime.
VR usage remains niche in the mainstream but with a hefty user base nonetheless, and I think it’s a safe bet that there’s a higher percentage of headset wearers in simulation type games. I found this Steam infographic interesting when it popped up the other day:

The only metric I’ve seen was that the Quest 3s was the best selling console on Amazon US in 2024 - and it only came out in October.Quest already was outselling XBOX - so it outsold Sony too?
Sony too? Seems like GenA and GenZ that grew up with touchscreen are controller phobic and consoles are in trouble. They want games to respond to hand movements as quest does that even with controller. And Sony unsuccessfully try to make psvr2 a pcvr but nerfed the features in the adaptor as they want ps console to be best way.. M$ already caved killed their vr support and supporting quest with xbox live virtual screens and remote desktop. An Xbox edition coming soon so how long for skyrim on quest. Gforce Now too. Be great if supports Virtual Desktop can use imax curved screen for sbs 3d like footfall here but I suspect those apps will be stand alone. The only metric I’ve seen was that the Quest 3s was the best selling console on Amazon US in 2024 - and it only came out in October.
