I waited for the 1.3 update with interest for two reasons: I wanted to take a DBE in to the black and while away from the bubble I wanted to see how PP began to shape up, what people thought about it etc.
The latter has triggered just a little bit of conversation...
Now I'm back and yesterday I pledged to a power but one thing I have frequently thought about since release is: Should we be able to make a secondary pledge to a separate power?
To use myself as an example: I am a Federal pilot. The lore suggests that I should be an enemy of the Empire but reasonably accepting of the Alliance. However, the Alliance is now my enemy because I have pledged to the Federation. If we could make a secondary pledge I would do so to Mahon. In doing so, I could then use that secondary pledge to help defend Alliance space from Imperial expansion. After all, as a Federal pilot the last thing I want is for the Empire to expand.
I guess that personally I just don't see the situation as being so black and white. The party I might vote for in local elections are not the same as the party I would vote for in nationwide elections, for the same basic reasons.
There could be a penalty of sorts, say your secondarily pledged support only has 75% of the influence as a primarily-pledged player, but such a system would help to instill this idea of "Play your own way" or "Blaze your own trail" because you'd have greater control over your player's actual 'beliefs'.
Is my lack of practical experience playing PP making me miss something obvious as to why this would be awful?
