Should we try to reverse the Krait decision?

David Braben confirmed that they have no plans to include the Krait in Elite Dangerous.

We can sort of understand why, after all, it was supposed to be an out of date craft back in the day (or am I imagining that?) Simple shape...

Should we kick up a fuss and demand the return of the krait?

If anything it should be returned not as a playable vessel but as a pirate NPC, or poor system's Defense craft, or an out of the way system's defense craft etc etc. Even in the future there will be people wanting to use outdated craft just because they are cheap, just don't have it as a CMDrs vessel.

The Krait 'side guns' don't really lend themselves to the hardpoint system currently implemented.
...unless it was repurposed. In some art design shots the arms look like hooks which could lend themselves to some boarding or 'aggressive masslocking' mechanics. But that would require a lot of dedicated development of new game mechanics that only a single ship could use.

Like Boarding other ships maybe?

A great small NPC 'Pirate' ship, and not too hard for newbies to deal with. It has a place in ED, and to be honest the more ships the better.

If the Condor becomes flyable, then the Krait has to too since they are in the same class (i.e. non jump capable)

At least thats what I say as I cry myself to sleep <sniff>

Slight redesign maybe....make the side guns...engine tube thingys....nacelles? sort of star trek almost....

or.......have them as drone ships....can be deployed from larger craft...anacondas and such.

I'm hoping that faq entry predates the announcement of 5 extra ships.

Krait can jump

Krait can jump

In the later games with a military drive. (Class D I'd guess to be the equivalent. Least heavy equipment class.)

Afraid not I think. (As in predating the announcement.)

Awwww come on, I wanna see what that old scrap heap can do! =P

If it were up to me I'd put it in the same general class as the Adder, but with only two hardpoints and more substantial internal compartments. That would place it squarely in the role of a pirate - enough firepower to crack open the hatches on a Type 6 and freight space enough to make a few bucks off of it, but still outgunned by dedicated warships like the Viper.

I'd love to see it even if it exists purely as a non player ship. It'll add a bit more variety and still provide cannon fodder. It's got to have sharks teeth on it though - that's the law. ;)

If not the old outdated Krait. Make a new updated version for the date 3300. Krait Mk 2 or something. But with the same iconic shape :) A little fighter in the same class as the Sidewinder. What about the Gecko and the Mamba, they also need to be mentioned :)

iirc size wise it is closer to the eagle than the adder.

Personally I would like to see all of the ships return in one way or another.
For now at least Frontier have plenty of more important things to add though ;)
