Showcasing Theme Expansion

I'm absolutely blown away by the creative talent of many of the PC community, especially as it relates to theme usage. Somehow, with just two sets of theme pieces (modern and pirate), these artists have developed creative ways to make two sets look like at least eight.

Disclaimers: These images are not mine. I just wanted to collect samples of "theme expansion". All credit goes to the original authors, Kukamonda, CrashTestGremlin, Andreizsmart, Knighty, Jake, Sdanwolf, and Silvarett. I've also thrown one of my own in as well. I make no judgements that these are the *best* examples of each theme. Everyone has their own taste, but these are certainly noteworthy, and in some cases, extremely awesome!

Before diving into theme expansion, here are some good examples of the standard ones:

Pirate (Sdanwolf)

and now... the craziness begins!

That's incredible, but we need more themes soon :p

I agree. It's just pretty cool to see people using theme pieces in ways that Frontier probably never imagined. Think of all of the possibilities once we have a couple more theme sets and terrain deformation/caves/cliffs.

Wow! I made it on a list of something that's actually positive, thank you! Makes me want to put more actual work into the design. I haven't seen some of these before, specifically the western theme, very cool.

These are absolutely AMAZING! I love them all - I wish I had the creative flair.

Spanner in the works - is anyone else concerned that when our peeps are "simulated" they are going to HATE these designs? I remember hearing in a Dev Diary some peeps will really like Pirate theming, but not be a fan of Western for example. So will some peeps be like "Oh I love the pirate walls, but I HATE that wooden trestle?" - will it be that deep? Can't wait to find out!!

That's a good point. How will peeps react to blended scenery? My guess is that each piece gives a little bit of benefit to it's original theme. So, a blended structure could make everyone happy. Of course, maybe that's wishful thinking. Maybe we can get a dev to answer this on the next dev blog.

It's pretty cool what people are doing with the limited amount of objects!

Have you seen an Arabian style yet?
I haven't seen a lot of people going with that theme yet but take a look at my dark ride Al Sharab if you'd like to see how it looks: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPr2uyC7Hjs)
I really tried o go for this Aladin-ish look for the city inside of the dark ride's building.

Thanks Dante, I hadn't seen this one and have been holding off theming my 'runaway minetrain' coaster until a western theme was added to the game....now I don't have to wait!

Also, Oli, great work on the Arabian theme. I'm going to give that one a shot too.

Great darkride! I hope we can create several complex rides like this without slowing the game down too much.

Thanks! It didn't have too much of an effect on my framerate, ofcourse it did, but it's a very slight difference from just an empty park so I think we should be able to have multiple dark rides in our parks once the game is fully optimized.

Thanks for an awesome collection and presentation of the themes created by the community so far! [happy]
