I apologize, as I couldn't find this posted elsewhere:I headed out to Guardian Ruins 2 and the Trees. When I hit the system, it showed "Alien Ruins" as a plottable course. I know this has to do with the Meene Dock quests. My question is this: Will this show only already discovered Alien sites? If it shows "new" ones, does it require a certain distance from planetfall/ruin sites to score a hit on the sector map? I'm heading to some prospective locations for alien ruins, and wanted to know if anyone has any information on the scanner and how it works.

I believe they now show up when you are within 1000 ls of a site. Like a RES. Is this what you are asking?

yes, but I was more specifically asking if they show for NEW sites and not simply ones that are already known (Such as the first 3 Guardian ruin sites). If that's a yes to that part, then I say Thankya and will spend the forseeable future roaming around in my ASP checking out nearly every planet in an arbitrary bubble around the current known ruins. ;-)

I believe it is a yes for the new sites, so happy hunting!
I can confirm that you can find new sites using the Ancient Ruins marker.

I have also seen the Ancient Ruins marker at 2,196Ls away.

I'm sure I have seen them greater than this but it doesn't happen all the time and the 1,000Ls distance limit is more usual.
