Shows and Entertainers? or Vandalism?

I would imagine that Frontier has a specific vision for the game, focused around conservation and education as they indicated, similar to modern zoos in real life. That means that if shows don't fit in real-life modern zoos, they don't fit in the game. That it's a game is no reason to add in these elements especially if it clashes with the vision of the developers.

i have thought about it once again:

A kind of "show" could be the feeding, like throwing fish at seals. Actually "shows" for the purpose of feeding would be cool i guess. The animals would do it because they really wanted to. Big cats could chase flesh whooshing by on a rope for example... It spares your gazelles but they would still have something to do for their food.

That I probably wouldn't mind. I don't know how exactly it fits with modern zoos, but my old zoo, which was often lauded for being pretty ahead of its times, and animal-friendly, did have feeding shows with the seals. Just a zookeeper feeding the seals in public at set times, nothing else.

The only entertainments I really see fit for a zoo are animal costumes. Though maybe a indiana jones type of figure or a pirate (for a aquatic dlc) might also fit. But it’s a bit of a stretch. A safari tour guide might also work. It would be cute for the guest to take photos with them or give them a more educational role.

Feeding times are a common thing to watch in modern zoo's. It's just a person throwing food in a habitat and saying something interesting about the animal.
Guests feeding animals is not something I come across on a regular basis, but something like feeding honey to Lori's, sounds okay to me.

Regular shows, and entertainers, are different. Even the new zoo near me has those kinds of shows. But those don't include real animals. They're just regular entertainment, and are often also intended to be educative, especially for children.

Funny how everybody ignores the simple ideas like face painting or holding birds which is a common staple for zoos... I dont get why people are so upset about the idea of having a costumed character walking around a park, or designated to one area. The animals wont be bothered by it, and Im pretty sure older zoo games had that feature. Its not like the devs would have to put in much extra work to copy a few of the Planco entertainers over (which Im sure they will do to go along with the shop themes which is a big part of this series)

As for shows, well I know they exist in real life, I know some shows are not good, but not all shows are bad. I'm not expecting the game to be filled with 100 different types of shows for each animal, but a small select few would be very cool to see. Its a game of creativity and theres nothing wrong with more options and variety. You can always choose to not build them.

I do expect somebody will eventually get around to making a circus inspired park just for the fun of it. It wouldnt break the game or kill the animals if somebody creates a volcano near the animals, or if somebody makes a park that looks like the moon, who cares? In Planco, people created replicas of the Titanic and other landmark buildings, this game is as much about architecture as it is anything else. You can be guaranteed that people will come up with crazy out of the box ideas that you would consider unrealistic or even uninhabitable or dangerous, but it doesnt matter how others play the game, if somebody wants to dig a huge hole in the ground and watch animals die they can do that! but heaven forbid we have a trained employee showing how certain animals behave? its nice to see bigger movements besides the usual walk laydown and eat animations, and its not like the game will cause some kids to think its a good idea to go wrestle a lion lol

I don't want to see animal shows if it involves sea mammals doing tricks for treats. I wont fuss if they add it, because I don't have to add it to my Zoo, but I don't particularly want to see it either.

However, I would like to see mascots, and keepers walking around with small animals like in Frontier's Zoo Tycoon. I also wouldn't mind seeing Keepers interacting with the animals to educate guest.

I'm not sure if I'd want full on "entertainers" like in Planet Coaster, but an equivalent would be nice. In most zoos you rarely see "Mascots" or walk around characters, but a common thing are zookeepers with smaller animals. Similar to Zoo Tycoon Ultimate Animal Collection (a game that I rarely give props to) they could have keepers with Lemurs/Parrots/Monkeys/etc that walk around and educate guests about the animals. Lots of potential for smaller creatures like Coatis, Sloths, Wallaby, etc.

I want the sea shows to be added. Because it is useful for some animals. of course, the frontier needs to do it carefully. animals should not be mistreated...
and yes I actually want to see the mascots and security guards walking around in my zoo. :)

I don’t mind whales and dolphins being added, providing that they are:
1- Difficult to keep, space wise, enrichment wise and the like, which discourages the player from having them. Also, they’d need to be kept in a dug out pen like thing, absolutely no glass or concrete.
2- No tricks, no shows where they are jumping through hoops or whatnot for treats. Zoos should be about conservation and education, not entertaining mindless people. “Tricks” for the vet to check them over is fine.

There is nothing harmful in the shows. because how do you train your dog? therefore there is no problem in the shows...

I would love face painting!! We had face painting at the Planet Zoo stand at Gamescom and if they managed to get this in game it would be awesome. I've been to shows and entertainment at zoos without animal involvement. A local zoo does a pantomime at Christmas ( British tradition) with the staff acting.

I still think there should be some kind of mascot other than the basic tour guide or zoo employee, Planco had King Coaster as the main mascot of the game and the Dinosaur was also fun to see in the animated trailers! so I hope they can come up with something creative for Plazoo :)
