shut down FSD and all i though was "OMG IM GOING TO DIE!"

So i was on my way to Chaudhary enterprise and lined up for approach to the station and drop out of FSD. imagine my surprise falling into this!

I did that once and actually clipped through some of the back portions of the station in my Anaconda. After a heart attack, and a change of shorts, I docked and continued trading.

.....and this is why I always approach Orbis/Ocellus stations from planet-side in supercruise. Coriolis and Outposts don't matter quite as much, unless its one of those crazy Coriolis' with the hi-grav booms. Those can be fun surprise if you come in just wrong, tho they won't kill you like an Orbis.

edit, just to note, I HAVE wrecked myself this way on two separate occasions, at two different stations. tho, iirc Ocellus are just short enough, that you won't quite hit them, but theres a couple of particularly dangerous Orbis types that will catch the unprepared CMDR with a solar panel or structural brace right to the face.

Nice Captain Hammer -

I had the same fright a few days ago; dropping from FSD ona routine return from a PP fortification drop almost pancaked me into an Orbis station. I passed the point your screenshot shows - I ended up between two of the three large triangular pods - the back of the circular dock portion filled my cockpit glass!

It looked like a Battlestar Galactica fighter launch scene, in reverse!

I yelled out and hit full lateral thrust to get out of the way of the station pod now bearing down on my Python from above. Lets say it's a good thing you can't walk around your pilot's seat yet.
The wife came to see what was wrong... no sympathy of course :)

Scary pixels! Bad pixels - no biscuit!

ALWAYS approach a station from the planet side.

Not only is it far safer, but it's quicker, as you come out of FS on the side with the letterbox.
