Shutting Down Game Requires Task Manager

I select "Esc", then "Quit to Desktop", then I get a black screen, and the only way to shut down Odyssey is with Task Manager.

I get that too. If I don't drop to menu first and then quit it's task manager time.

Happens from time to time for me too.

Happens to me as well. Pretty randomly but consistently enough that it's a nuisance.

It used to only happen right after Fdev triggered their "server shutdown in x minutes" routine. As soon as that message appeared and I quit the game, 100% repeatable, it would hang on black screen indefinitely (and I believe this was the same for anyone else who noticed I'd mentioned it at the time).

Now, it happens randomly and frequently. Maybe once a day or more.

My to do list when playing elite dangerous:

1. Open OBS and other streaming software if I feel like streaming it.
2. Open Task Manager and slide it over to one of my other screens.
3. Open Elite Dangerous.
4. Play Elite Dangerous. and curse when it crashes every so often.
5. When done playing, Exit to main menu and simply kill the process in Task manager.

You can tell I have been doing this for a long time, ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The bug keeps resurfacing every so often.

Same here. A 'work around' that is fairly consistent is to quit to menu and then ALT+F4.

Same. Weird thing is that this started happening with Horizons too ever since Odyssey came out.

Same, even though I always exit to Menu first. In keeping with the RNG nature of Odyssey it doesn't do it every time, though the drop rate is higher than Opinion Polls

Same here. A 'work around' that is fairly consistent is to quit to menu and then ALT+F4.

Possibly the only time in the history of the internet that someone's suggested ALT+F4 without trying to troll someone.
