Shuttle Service Mode for Transport Rides

We have three Transport Rides in game at the present time, with possibly more to follow at a later date. The three we have so far are the Connie Express, Iron Horse (Trains) and the Lightline Monorail.
We can only build these as a continuous loop at the moment and I would like to see a Shuttle mode option for these. This would enable to build a railway or monorail from one side of the park to the other with a terminus station at each end, where the train can be turned to go back to the other terminus station in the opposite direction. This shuttle service mode was available for transport rides in RCT3, so will it be implemented in Planet Coaster?

I also do not understand why the developers have not yet inserted! That would be a small thing .....

At FX17 two different devs gave quite good technical explanations as to why this is not simple at all, nor small. Indeed, anything that touches station behavior seems to break them out in a cold sweat![big grin]

Oh that might mean,no rides without stopping in the station, like the omnimovers[sour]

I can not believe it. now we have a driver on each side. What makes sense if the direction is not changed?
If I want to go from a to b I do not want to go in a circle.[yesnod]

I agree. It it isn't a continuous loop, then it should go in the opposite way.
Then add switches so that it can turn off from the regular path, and join back in.

it may be in progress. multi-station and some other station effects where "not in foreseeable future, if ever", but shuttle mode wasn't mentioned when i was around, so maybe... i was just responding to the "that would be a small thing", as apparently, it is not s small thing.

I can understand that this might not happen with the railroads as it qould be quite weirf if the locomotives just turn around but I think it definately should be implemented with the monorail as it already has two cockpits with a pilot/driver in each of it [rolleyes][yesnod]

Although a full-blown shuttle mode would be difficult, would implementing 2-way stations be easier?

The train would come into a station, stop and then exit but just after the exit, it could swap to a 2nd parallel line running in the opposite direction the other way. This could even allow for 2 way stations.

This surely could be done quite easily using the block logic from roller coasters. The track one way could be one block, the station another and finally the track away another.

I have an additional idea.

It would be cool if regular track rides like go-karts and log flumes could have additional stations. This would give us a bunch more options for transport rides.

The coaster and tracked rides system needs an overhaul. For a game called Planet Coaster, the coaster aspect has fallen short. I expected PlanCo to have the best coaster-building experience given that Frontier made RCT3, Thrillville, and Coaster Crazy. There's a lot to be improved upon, and they're definitely getting there. Multiple stations, and shuttle mode for coasters have been requested since day one.

I'm not bashing the game or Frontier, I bought the alpha of the game because I wanted Frontier to go above and beyond, but now it worries me a bit. I like the coaster building and management aspects of games like Planet Coaster, and they've mostly focused on showcasing scenery since the game's launch.

Could you give some further information?[big grin] I am really interested in the reasons so that I better understand where there are major programming difficulties.

When I suggest something I sometimes tend to think "Most of it is already there, this should be a small adjustment, where is the problem?". With understanding such issues better it would help me not to think like that.[big grin]

If I sound weird it's because I didn't get much sleep lately [big grin]

Do bear in mind that requests still are just plain requests. Nobody at Frontier is permitted to add every suggestion.

Coming to that. I don;t mind double stations for coasters, but I don't really see the point of having them. For tracked rides maybe.

Now shuttle mode is where Sam's comment from yesterday's livestream comes in. They tested to place boomerang elements (catch car) on different trains and vice versa and it did not work for some and it would require a ton of new codes to be written (not my words). So I can understand why it is on the "not now" list.
There have been more (and better) suggestions from day one that are also not in the game (yet).

Of course both ideas (shuttle / multiple stations) would be nice. But listening to Sam yesterday he actually sort of told os "Don't count on it".

As for scenery, they might be showcasing this, but it is still missing several components (just have a look at Gysan's list)

Like said above. Sam did mention it a couple of times yesterday. It's not impossible. It just needs a ton of code they said, which makes me understand why they consider every option fo things added in the game but they won't say a definite no to it.
