Ships Shuttles

For pilots that need a shuttle to move your ships, I compiled a comparison of shuttles (http://coriolis.io/compare/Shuttles) where each ship is maximized for at least 250LY total range and low cost. These shuttles don't require fuel scooping which takes time and makes you vulnerable to attack. They're also extremely low weight which means shieldless as well. I suppose the only reason for adding the Cobra to this list is that it is the fastest in case you have to travel through shark-infested space.
.
Summary:
Sidewinder, 197K credits, 245LY
Hauler, 213K credits, 288LY
Adder, 587K credits, 258LY
Cobra, 2M credits, 289LY

And perhaps the best low-cost shuttle is this slightly improved Sidewinder shuttle configuration - 198K credits, 286LY total range.

Nice work there man, can be useful to just get a temp ship if you need to repark your other ships. This does remind me of something else, though - would be nice if we got inter system SC and sublight only shuttles at some point. Probably when planetary landings are implemented, in case you don't fancy landing something huge down for a look :) Though to be honest, those Adders kind of look shuttle-like already..

By the way, notice how there aren't any class 1 FSD's in the game? Maybe a C1 is intended as SC only and will come with system shuttles later.

Probably no C1 FSD because the range would be insufficient for nearly any intersystem jump. As you suggested, they're probably only good for intrasystem jumps.

Currently as there is no module resell penalty only the price of the ship itself actually matters.
I usually prefer cobra with A-grade thrusters and distributor, with 4A fuel scoop and without additional fuel tanks. It sounds expensive, but it is safe to travel in, and given it will be sold at destination anyway it will cost only 10% of price of cobra hull, around 35k.
Why fuel scoop after all? Because if you scoop every jump is only few additional seconds, and with it you have unlimited max range. Also additional tanks reduce speed in normal space and jump range, which is not good at all.

I think you missed the point of the thread. It's a shuttle, a temporary ship to allow you to pick up another ship. So, infinite range isn't needed. What is needed, however, is the ability to cross from Empire space to Alliance space. 200-300LY total range covers that. It never is just a few seconds to scoop unless you buy a big fuel scoop which isn't available at most stations. Scooping also makes you vulnerable to pirates. The goal with these shuttles was (a) cheap, (b) availability, (c) minimal time to reconfigure for shuttle work, (d) fast total time to destination (i.e. no scooping) before selling the ship, and (e) minimal exposure to pirates. If you need (e), go for the Cobra. If you don't care, the others will do. Not all stations have each of these ships but nearly all stations should have at least one of them.

Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Just used the Sidewinder config for a quick 8 jump trip back to home.
