I have just started playing Elite and have noticed the side thrusters dont work when I come into dock, as soon as I ask for permission to land they stop working, I am using a Black Widow joystick and keyboard, the thrusters stop working on the keyboard as well, I am not sure if this normal or not, any help would be most appreciated?

Do they stop working when you ask permission to dock or when you lower your landing gear?
In the control options you can set up different controls that work when docking or you can turn that option off and have your normal controls for docking.

They stop working when I ask for permission to land only.
Then it sounds like the UI problem that Kabacus describes. Check if the comms are active (top left of screen) after you request docking.
Problem sorted, I pressed 1 to return to front view instead of 2 after requesting landing permission and the thrusters worked! Thanks guys for your help.
