So I am looking at putting together a cockpit controls description section for a Sidewinder entry in that manual hidden by my right elbow. I was looking at all the controls, and was wondering if they already have specific meanings? I can certainly come up with some that work:
On the left side beside the keyboard:
Slider 1 = Holographic display brightness
Slider 2 = Dashboard controls brightness
CL+: Increase Circuit Limiter allowance, to allow for greater system overall power transfer at greater risk of surge damage (combat damage output benefits)
CL-: Decrease Circuit Limiter allowance, less maximum power transfer, but greater preservation of circuitry (supercruise/hyperspace/combat resilience benefits)
DRD - Diagnostic Repair Droids (if available) ... Farscape tech in an ED world
. External and physical system diagnostics through repair driod or nano-tech.
STP - Self Test Protocol, initialization and primary/secondary systems test and diagnostic
EN. - Engine Test, automated test of all engine primary and secondary systems.
Data ports - All the latest technology data ports for Federation/Imperial/Alliance systems. I figure it's pretty standard for any system that a keyboard would have a shift lock key on.
In any event, that is just an example. But I want to make sure I am not reinventing the wheel here. Do these things already have designations and definitions in previous games or something? I would love to take existing information rather than create something new.
