*sigh* Surveillance Equipment time

Ok, so i've got the idea, STO, EXT, CMD buildings.

Found an anarchy low security extraction settlement. Well, 2 different ones, same layout. Tried twice. STO and EXT i can get into. No guards, just workers, well spaced out, can take down silently. CMD both times get detected as people in different rooms with glass around and quickly get spotted before can take them out. Take one out, but the other dude is safe behind glass and the alarm goes up instantly. Ok, i know, i should disable alarms in PWR first (if its there and not in CMD), but that's also quite risky.

So far in 2 runs, no Surveillance equipment found in STO or EXT... is this Opinion Polls all over again? Keep going until you find them? They can be found in STO and EXT? Just so i'm not wasting my time. At least its just 5 this time instead of 10.

Is it worth trying to butt my head getting into PWR and/or CMD to search there for it?

@Factabulous - I'm hoping you've got some spiffing advice for me!

Everything apart from Engineer Unlocks is best found via mission rewards

Surveillance Equip is easily found in Military bases IIRC. It's not rare.

as been said, you can get them as mission rewards
and you can also get them from lockers in CMD building (usually in the Security room, but maybe in some other rooms too)

for example in the 2F CMD building, at 1F, in the Security side of the building (the right side as you enter the building), you have the room with the Settlement alarms (with observation windows to the next room) and a room with the Security Port, a stair to upper level and a level 3 door leading to a very small room that has a big locker in the middle and to small lockers to the sides. That big locker almost always has Surveillance Equipment stocked.

OH.

Okay, the best place I've found for these is an industrial layout that @Viajero calls "the horseshoe", which is good for other things too.
They spawn in lockers in the security room, which the horseshoe happens to have a big one.

It has a large landing pad next to a courtyard with the buildings surrounding it like, well, a horseshoe.
Annoyingly it looks like the eternal purge of anarchy settlements has caused Anosike Engineering Base in Aurai to change hands and it's not anarchy any more.
If nobody else gets to it before I get a chance to hop on I'll get a screenshot. It's one of my favourite bases to raid since the back door to the CMD building is almost never patrolled and there's always a level 2 guy just walking around past the first interior door, L2 gets you close enough to reach the security office, and the guy in there has L3.
There's an ops room in the same building that has a big locker that almost always has suit and weapon schematics too.

After my experience with CMD buildings i'm leery of trying again.

I'll try and check out missions first, see if i can find any with those as rewards. Otherwise i'll check out that sort of base.

Do you have to disable alarms first, or you can do it without?

Why?
Just move to a system with a faction owning a ton of settlements that's been hit with a negative state.
Restore/Reactivate those settlements, you get payed to do so and you can loot everything that is not bolted on

Edit: but better pick one of the stated that do not come with bodies and flames.
Usually those settlements have less loot / more lockers already open and empty

That was my next thought actually. Its how i started with opinion polls.

On my way to look for one.

In other news, checked 90 missions, not a single one offered surveillance equipment.

The area around Acokwus has a number of systems in negative states, and an assortment of the 2 floor CMD buildings. Plenty of appropriate missions that will allow the looting of the settlement.

The alarms are in the security room.

Generally speaking, surveillance equipment is found in sec rooms wherever, the horseshoe just happens to be one of the settlements where you can get at the sec room relatively easily.

Did one run around a disabled extraction base. Got lots of goodies but no surveillance equipment. Maybe next time.

My inventory is rapidly filling up and there are so many different things i can't easily keep in my head what is useful and what is junk.

So i think for my next few runs i'll just limit myself to doing CMD to save time. I spent 30 minutes on the last one going around every single container....
