Signature Masking (Sort Of Stealth?)

An idea stemming from another thread.

Wouldn't it be kinda cool (lol), if you could hide your heat signature by hiding in close proximity to something hotter, and larger?

So if you want to hide from sensors, in say, your DBS, you can go cold, and fly really close to an Anaconda, and you'll be practically invisible to sensors, except at point blank.

The closer in size you are to the ship you're using to hide, the larger gap you need in heat.

So a Sidewinder hiding using an Anaconda wouldn't need much difference in heat at all, just a tad cooler.
But an Anaconda trying to hide using another Anaconda, would require a huge heat signature difference. You'd also be easily spotted using the MK1 eyeball. Lol

Could have some interesting gameplay from it, including smuggling, ambushes, ect.

Good observation -- although it depends on the resolution fo the passive sensors. Easy enough to include a detectability modifier based on proximity - at least for initial detection.

Another idea would a module which output a false signature to make you look like a different ship. Cunningly designed cavities can produce interesting radar returns for instance (RL).

I was going to add a bit about adding a "resolution" stat to sensors. Higher class and/or rating allowing better detection of hidden ships.

But messing with sensors in their current form is iffy, because they're class locked per ship.
I had some ideas to fix that, but I've forgotten it. Lol
