General / Off-Topic Silent Running Activated

So yesterday, I finished work at 19:00, I usually catch the 19:02 bus home, because it's normally late enough that I can get to the stop before it arrives.
But yesterday, it was on time.

Next bus, 19:35. Time to home, 19:55
Distance home: 2 miles. That'll take about 25 minutes to walk! Time home: 19:35. Roughly.

I need to get fit, and it's cold outside, so I wrapped up, gloves on, hat on, and started walking.
At 1.8 miles to go, I got bored, and decided to try jogging, in my work gear, with my work back pack.
A few hundred metres later, and I'm exhausted. Lol
And hot.

Took my hat off, and it was like "heat sink deployed!".
Cooled off instantly, and jogged some more, on and off.

Got to the final bus stop, where I'd get off to walk the 200 meters home, and the 19:02 bus I'd missed pulls up...

I can't wait to have a car again...

You are driving two miles to home? 50 mins of walk every day, that is enough for your body to stay fit - how I wish I could do that. I am commuting 90 mins a day by car, and have no time/will to do any exercises. Our office will move (as posted in the manual/automatic thread), and can't wait to swap the 90 mins commute from car to relaxing 90 mins public transport, that may include 30 mins worth of walking up/downhill.

I'm lazy. :p

I don't find public transport relaxing, mainly because I hate the public part of public transport. :p
And the partly because the bus times are really weird.
I do cycle to and from work in nicer weather, but if it's supposed to rain or freeze I'll take the car (or bus)

In my defense, I have a physically demanding job, lots of lifting and walking (between driving. Lol).

I love public transport. It's so nice to just switch off and enjoy the ride.

It's a big reason I don't want to bother getting a driving license.

If I need private transport, I have my bike.

Well, I agree, but people are more polite in their shoes than in 1.5 ton steel boxes. After many years of commuting by car, I am really looking forward to walk and not having exposed to the jungle laws of rush hour.

As a petrolhead, I can tell you that it required disproportionate amount of resources to maintain a car. If you can avoid having one good for you.
I have it bad: I have one as a daily driver, but also hobby car, I still have my fathers' old car too that is now 19 years old (ironically, my daily driver is not much younger) plus I do have two company cars driven by the family.

Whenever I do that, I miss my stop. Lol

Riding a bus usually just fills me with anxiety and dread, because the driver's around here are terrible. Not saying I'm a perfect driver, but as far as I know, I don't throw any passengers around violently.

With our bus drivers, I'm surprised more people aren't severely injured, especially considering 97.2% of the passengers are elderly.

All that, and people sit next to you, even if there's a free seat elsewhere. And it's always the weird ones.

Lifehack: Sit on the inside seat and put an angry scowl on your face.
