I just had a good laugh at myself- I caught myself doing/believing something silly.
We all know Downloading major updates can be slow, even sketchy sometimes (esp for players like me on opposite side of the globe). We may have all developed superstitions about undergoing the process as fluidly and quickly as possible. Similar to "lucky downloading socks", but less goofy (exaggerated for definition).
Here is/was mine: I see the download rate go from .01 Mbps to 1.76Mbps.. and I instantly cease all computer activity, step back slowly from the keyboard, and TOUCH. NOTHING!!
The stupidstition (not a misspelling) is that If I open the browser, click wifi settings, or so much as bump the computer case, that I would "whammy" the bandwidth, and it will drop back down again.

So whats your superstition? Is mine a common one, in actuality?
