Elite / Frontier Silly question probably - FSD interdictor

Hi guys,

Probs a silly question but when I tried to buy FSD interdictor for my sidewinder (which I've only upgraded weapons and power thing on) it makes me sell the shields at the same time!

I've not got my head around ship slots etc but am I right in thinking therefore that you have a certain number of slots and therefore can only have shields or an indterdictor thingy, not both?

Do I need to wait to upgrade to a better ship that has maybe more slots?

Sorry if a silly question but it's not obvious to me at the moment, despite being a player as a kid back in the 80s!

Sounds like it's Elite : Dangerous you're playing rather than one of the older games - perhaps you'd be better asking over on the specific E : D board.

Each ship has a limited number of compartments, and each compartment can only hold one module. If you buy a new module of a compartment containing another module, you have to sell it to buy the new one.
The Sidewinder has VERY limited space. I think it's a choice between sell either your shields or your cargo rack or your Discovery scanner.
